    Parents Osteochondritis Dissecans- Elbow

My DD had surgery for OCD in elbow in May of 2014 (she was 14) Back in the gym on a limited basis in September, but not really full go until January (even then still modified skills). A few times over the years she complained that her elbow hurt (once she jammed it vaulting) but overall came...

WAG Elbow OCD - comebacks after surgery?

DD also had surgery for elbow OCD in May of 2014. She was training L9 at the time. I would agree the taking the recovery time after the surgery is just as important as the surgery itself. 2+ years after surgery my DD is still in the sport competing L9 and High school. Good Luck to your DD.

Parents OCD elbow return to gymnastics success?

My DD was 14 was she was diagnosed with OCD in January 2014. She was a second year L8 training 9. She tried the rest route. She had an MRI in March 2014 and then a follow up 8 weeks later in May and the second MRI showed no improvement and in fact the lesion may have even grown. She had...

WAG How are region 5 "state teams" determined?

In Level 8 if you make the "State Team" you don't pay for the leo. If you qualify for regionals, but don't make the state team, then you pay for the leo.

    WAG How to prevent OCD?

My DD had elbow OCD. She was a level 8 starting to train 9 when the pain started. She was 8th grade. She tried rest for a few months, but ultimately had the surgery. She took some time off after surgery, then slowly started conditioning and started back to gym slowly about 5 months post...

WAG Please share Severs success stories

My son (he's not a gymnast) is dealing with Sever's now. He's seeing a doctor that specializes in Active Release Technique. The Dr. can treat Severs in 3-5 visits. I know it sounds crazy, but he's been very successful.

Parents Anyone else doing high school gym?

My DD is a Sophomore and is doing high school and club. She will do one club meet and then HS season and then go back to club after HS ends. She did it last year too and loved it. She lettered her freshman year and got some write ups and pictures in the local paper. Her school has a big team...

WAG Elbow injury ?'s- could this be OCD? Or just strain? Or other?

My DD tried rest for about 6 months and it did not help. During that time was in the gym doing "no-handed" training. She had surgery in May 2014, wore a brace for a short time after. She was in the gym that summer, but very limited conditioning. Was cleared to train in September 2014. Slowy...

    WAG High School Gymnastics

My DD competed HS this past year as a freshman. She would have never considered it in the past but she had an injury / surgery which set her back. She was able to train and compete HS while she was recovering from her surgery. She did end up competing club after HS season ended and intends...

Parents Getting Confidence back after multiple injuries

Just give her time. My DD is going through the same thing. Was out most of last season, had surgery in May and just started back "full" gymnastics a few weeks ago. She is training level 9, but is competing HS this year while she tries to get her skills back. She had an elbow injury and was...

    WAG Elbow OCD update

I think a social group would be great. I know I could have used it during the last year. For every step forward, there was another step backward. At first it seemed like the end of the world when she was initially out for 3 weeks last winter- now fast forward 11 months later and she's...

    WAG Elbow OCD update

Well it's been almost 6 months from DD's microfracture surgery and she's doing great! Started slowing training (back using arms) about a month and half ago. She's gotten most of her upper body strength back. Her skills are coming back faster than I thought they would. She's a freshman this...

    Parents Regional Training Camps

My DD has been to region 5 Super Camp 3 times. It is a lot of fun. They meet others girls that they see at meets throughout the year. They get to train with different coaches. I think it's a great experience. She never went to a compulsory weekend camp, but she did do 1 day clinics. I...

    WAG Surgery done!!

On Friday my DD had surgery for her elbow OCD. Everything went great. The dr. only had to do the micro fracture (the drilling). She had no cartilage damage, and there were no broken bone fragments. It was the best case scenario. She is in a splint now for a week and a lf and then she will...
