Thameside Gymnastics in the Uk have advised deleting the Instagram follower: Gymlover 1233. Apparently he/she follows a lot of gymnasts and has requested photos from a young gymnast. Better safe than sorry.
Wasn't at a gym....but loads of gym people there.
You build up a mental picture of people don't you....well this person exactly fit the mental picture I have of the well known CB member. I kept thinking "I've met you before" but I knew I hadn't. It was only after giving it some thought I put...
I met someone at the weekend and thought they seemed familiar. Can't help but wonder if it was one of the better known UK members (I'm not saying who though).
What I would say re Milano is "it depends on the fabric" (as in my DD varies between a 28 (foil or velour) and 30 (Lycra)...the former seems to have more stretch...it's not a style thing, we even have the exact same Leo in two sizes because of the fabric).
Timely thread....got my DDs new grips checked by our HC because I thought they were too small. She said exactly what Dunno has...they were in fact perfect!
The one thing I'm querying....on the pic posted by Aero the grips sit quite far down the fingers....like first joint....I was told just...
Could she perhaps use her "gloves and straps" (if your gym use these)? My DD has a similar bar and finds it easier with those on.
Keep checking the bar though...more than once it has loosened in the doorframe so I tend to stay with her and tighten it every now and again.
I went to bed worrying last night "what if Dunno actually is Kurt Thomas?"
Part of Dunno's appeal is the mystery. I don't really want to know who he is.
He should take it as a huge compliment though....the fact so many members have taken part in various recent @dunno threads shows how popular...
Dunno once said he competed against Nadia Comaneci (this made me think he was a she for ages). She competed in the 1976 and 1980 Olympics. She is married to Bart Conner, who was a team-mate of Kurt Thomas at the 1976 Olympics.
It varies. I'd say 12-16 roughly, although I think there are some younger ones too using that pathway. Although two girls had some background in an alternative but related discipline, I've seen them make mind-blowing progress in just 18 months training 4 pieces - so rapid that one will soon be...
The girls I'm referring to are receiving the exact same coaching and same hours as those on the equivalent elite pathway (in fact the groups are mixed...so they're working alongside each other). They are working through the national grades at a phenomenal pace....skipping some each year. The...
I have had similar thoughts about our elite pathway (UK). They recently changed it so that you can take our elite levels 3, 2 & 1 (taken in that order at 10, 11, 12) at any age. However, it is my understanding that if you are "out of age" you don't get a national final. This means if you opt...
I'm not experienced enough to advise the OP, but I wanted to say to the coaches (although you probably know this anyway) that coaching behaviour at meets can lose you gymnasts. Several times over the last year I have heard "new" parents at my DD's gym cite the negative behaviour of their old...
