Try coming to Colorado. We had mid 60 degree weather yesterday, 40 degrees here and there's supposed to be about 18 inches of snow tomorrow, back to 60's mad week next week!!
it seems as though I have happened upon this years' injury! I hyper-extended my knee and tore a bunch of ligaments and tendons . I am hoping for a fast recovery. This is quite frustrating though!
Mainly, in my gym, there are six steps to every skill.
1-The demonstration. Such as showing what it is and maybe doing some pre-drills.
2-Taking it apart. This would be more drills to get the movement and idea of the skill.
3- Whole skill with a spot. The coach spots you on the whole skill to...
Yes, my gym doesn't let us get them till optionals. Mainly because the compulsories have no need for them but also because they have less time on bars and get more distracted and so the coaches think the compulsories don't have time.
We just got some new coaches. Last night was the first night I worked with them only to find out that they are not encouraging. If I did something wrong, She would say that looked terrible" or "that was awful". They didn't show me how to make it better or how to fix it. It really frustrated me...
One thing that I really like about my coaches is that they let us know that they are around anytime to talk to if we need them. That they are focusing on not only making us better gymnasts but better people. we talk about random stuff throughout practice if there aren't many people.
I am a level 6, training 7 and 8. we only do 5-6 hours a week. Yea I wish I could do more but we just don't. My coaches use the time wisely and we 99% of the time get 1st at meets.
At my gym, we work half ons before half/halfs. (half on, half off). Then we use halfs to work tsuks. We don't compete tsuks until level 8 or 9 and my level 7 self is terrified of them!
What new skills are you/ your DD working on, or wanting to get? My Competition season is in 4 1/2 months away and there are oh so many skills I want! Bhs and ro for beam, hand full for vault, layout on floor and well for bars, I have the skills I need for level 7! If only I could ask Santa for...
I went and loved it. My parents went and almost seemed to enjoy it more than I did! of course, I had to explain what each person was doing and who was doing it. we got really close seats for $40 with some kind of discount from my dad's work.
This wasn't gymnastics, but my orchestra did a 3 day 2 night retreat and we (players) stayed 3 to a room while the chaperons and conductors all checked on us before lights out and roamed the halls.
Are there cliques in your gym? We've recently had some issues at our gym with the "popular" group. I hang out with a few different groups and get along fairly well with everyone in the gym (aside from a few "Lauren tanner" girls). Usually We all get along quite well and the optionals have a...
boy I am busy! aside from gym and school, I do competitive swimming, 2 orchestras, private violin lessons, dance and any workshop, clinic, open gym or private gym lessons. yea but I'm homeschooled so I do some co-ops and homeschool group plus online classes. I still find time to hang out with my...
So the 2012 Olympic (gymnastics) team and 3 members of the 2008 team is going on tour! And they are coming to my state near the end of September- 6 days after my birthday! I was looking at the site Kellogg's Tour of Gymnastics Champions and it said that gym clubs can go and even participate! And...
So there might be more threads on this but it's always a funny subject for us gymnasts and thought this might be fun. So post any " you know you're a gymnast when'"," gymnast habits/problems" ect. quotes! I'll start with a few...
