Our gym isn't air conditioned (we are in southern Ohio), but no cancelled practices yet (our group practices in the late afternoon or midday depending on the day). There have been days where it's so humid dd sticks to the beam and bars, but she muddles through. They open up as many doors on the...
We have a "kid phone"... Basic flip phone, $10/mo on our plan, that gymmie takes to practice so she can call if she gets hurt, feels sick, or released early. When it's not in her gym bag, it's charging on our kitchen counter :). 2 of her brothers are both possibly playing club level soccer this...
My daughter does straight aloe (no menthol cooling stuff) and wears cheapie dollar store "magic stretch gloves" to bed-- fresh aloe and blister band aids (the gel kind) during the day, then tape grips until they're healed.
The other thread about training attire reminded me-- which Leo brands seem to be cut a bit broader across the shoulders? DD is currently in child large for snowflake, gk and Adidas, and while the length fits fine I've noticed they are getting too tight across the shoulders as she develops more...
She conditions on her own (she saved up her money about a year ago and asked to buy a pull up bar so she could-- we wound up splitting the cost with her so she could get a doorway mount instead of the pressure mounted one she saved for after seeing it at the store since we knew parting with her...
Thank you, fuzi :). I called the gym, and the person I talked to said she will miss the team tryouts (end August 1st) even though he thought she could possibly compete new 3, and preteam is a strength based evaluation, which I understand but it's a bummer. She is tall and gangly, so chin-ups are...
She is 9 GymGirl's Mom :). I was actually wondering myself, if a newer program would be more open to a 9yo first time compulsory gymnast (or pre-teamer) -- looking at the pictures they have posted their team doesn't have the huge number of kids that look to be 6-7 like the gyms currently local...
Thank you thefellowsmom! Great tips on what to look for when we visit the gym :). We are not at all opposed to a new program, as long as our daughter is happy there (and being close will contribute significantly to the family's overall happiness should she be in a competitive situation with the...
I think it's pretty new-- gymsurvivor, would you mind shooting me a private message? I'd love to pick your brain about other area programs as well if you are up for it :)
