Do they show this before the gymnast goes, or afterwards, before the score comes up on the board?
If they show it before, how do they know what it is? Does the coach tell them, so and so has a whatever start value?
Is a switch leap a B skill only if it hits 180? What are other commonly performed B skills for L7 floor? And why is it so hard to just find lists of A/B/C/... skills online?
We are about to go into our fourth meet season with this gym. Coaching/head coaches have changed several times. DD is not a super phenom by any means, but has consistently been a top scorer. Has never skipped a level and is not likely to ever skip a level. Not TOPS, not elite. Is not super...
What would the deduction be for a completely missing element in compulsories, for example, a missing BHS for L3 or a missing back tuck for L5? The gymnast just doesn't do the skill.
FWIW, not my gymmie.
Does anyone have video of a L7 bar routine without giants (preferably one that scored decently)? My DD is getting down to the wire here. And YES, her HC said she "could" still do 7 without giants, so I'm just trying to see what that might look like.
L5 seems to be pretty commonly low-scoring in the grand scheme of things. My DD won 3 meets with mid-35 AA's, and she had been getting 36-37 in old and new 4.
Is it possible that her scores could bounce back up when she goes into L7? Assuming good solid training, no injuries or obvious...
Due to some extraordinary circumstances, it is very likely that my daughter could end up doing mostly just conditioning with "a bit" of event work in there for 3 or so weeks this summer. This is not our choice. She is not injured. She finished L5 in December.
How badly is she going to lose...
I know pretty much nothing about the whys of either vault. DD has a poor FHS and I'll be happy when she can get past it. She's uptraining tsuks right now. We don't have many optionals and I don't think I've seen a Yuri out of any of the top girls. Vault has not been the gym's strong suit...
A note to all of my gym mom friends. Avoid Gym Chix like the plague. I have been trying to get a custom leotard from them since Feb/March. The first order took forever and I didn't get it until early April. It was the wrong size. I had to email several times to get any response whatsoever...
I am still really uneasy about these. DD can tap into them in straps, can't quite get over with a CHS in straps, has yet to even move them to pit bar. Summer schedule is about to start, two months of 22 hours a week. Is there any chance she'll have competition-ready giants by January?
If you had a group of girls who were training for "6/7," but no time was being spent on giants or even flyaways, would you think that they're being steered only to L6? They have been uptraining since Jan. and won't compete until Jan. 2016. They have only done giants on strap bar and only one...
If you have a small gym and optionals, do they all practice and group together as teammates with all optional levels, or just within their own level? I.E. if you have 7's and 9's, are they insular groups? Our gym used to be where the optionals all stuck with each other - they would all sit...
Say CW/BT or FT. Is there much of a difference difficulty-wise between them? Does one lead to higher skills more than another? What is most commonly seen at 6/7? What do 8's usually do?
I tried searching but came up empty. What is the deduction for a coach on the floor for a spot, but they don't touch the gymnast? Is it different between JO and Xcel?
Okay, level 6 is 1:15 and level 7 is allowed up to 1:30. Could a gymnast use a 1:15 in level 7 and get everything in she needed to? Basically, if a gymnast competed both 6 and 7, could the same floor music/same cut get used for both seasons?
Not talking low scores, bad attendance, poor attitude, lack of work ethic, disobedience, poor sportsmanship, or a young age. Fears are minor, passing, and on expected skills, but not all of them (i.e., not flyaways ever). What is there that the parents could be completely missing and that...
