WAG Reasonable time to get a meet schedule. VENT!

You can get a temp for around $15/hour. If you had that temp work for an entire 40-hour week, you'd be spending $600 (although I think that's a very large chuck of time for someone to put together a schedule, upload it to the website, create and distribute the volunteer schedule, order food...

WAG Reasonable time to get a meet schedule. VENT!

I don't get the whole volunteer thing at all. You have a big meet, with sponsors that are for-profit companies, for which you have collected actual dollars for entry...but it's all run by volunteers? That does not make sense to me at all. If you're a for-profit business and I am paying you for...

    WAG Leotard help

I'd try the butt glue, *plus* the bra with clear straps. I sympathize...I've never been a gymnast, but I have round shoulders like you, and it's hard to get things to fit right.

WAG Reasonable time to get a meet schedule. VENT!

This is the only negative experience we've had so far in gymnastics. The lack of basic organization boggles me. Communications are late, schedules are changed on a week's notice...and it seems to be an industry-wide thing, not just one gym. My husband and I both have jobs where schedules are...

    Parents I'm a flasher--can I bring my knitting?

Well, I didn't end up bringing my knitting, because I couldn't get this hat to the point where it would have been mindless (there are some new techniques in between where I am and the crown of the hat where things get easier). I'm glad I didn't, though, because there was so much to see that I...

    Parents First meet today!

We had our first meet a month ago. It was an hour's drive away, and I thought I was going to throw up for that entire drive. I did not expect to be that nervous! It went fine, though, and I'm much calmer now. It was SO much fun. Enjoy!

WAG When you love your kids' coaches, but Jesus H., there are 7 of them and it's Christmas.

I'm doing Target gift cards. I figure no matter what you do or don't like, you can find something you want/need at Target. I also found some cute printable candy bar wrappers on Esty that will go with. You can get ones that say, "Thanks, Coach!" with a gymnast, and you can personalize the back...

    Parents I'm a flasher--can I bring my knitting?

I'm volunteering for a boys' meet at my daughter's gym this weekend. I've only ever been to two meets (my daughter is new to gym and so am I). My job is to be a flasher--the one who holds up the score counter thingie (not sure if it's called that everywhere or just at our gym). At the other two...

    Parents Have you ever wondered

    I don't really care. I don't say anything I wouldn't say in real life.

WAG How do you wash your competition Leo?

You're all nuts. Everyone knows that you have to wash them in unicorn tears. Then you have angels breathe on them, through the left nostril only, until they're dry. (Seriously, I might, because my kid's comp leo cost more than my wedding dress. I'm very old, but still.)

WAG Is your daughter training for the Olympics?

I say, "She's training to be a badass."

Parents Cute points??? Do they exist?

I am convinced that some enterprising hairstylist could make a killing by offering $5 buns before meets. I would gladly pay to have someone else do that. I'm terrible at it.

Parents You know your child's a gymnast when...

Her 8-year-old non-gymmie brother has his middle splits and an impressive beam routine, because she forces him to take her gymnastics classes in the family room.

    Parents Clothing for Gymnasts

I am really hoping that in a parallel universe, the mom of the boy in the OP is on a message board, saying "My 11-year-old son has been offering unsolicited comments to girls on the quality of their butts. How can I make him understand that it's 2015 and this is not okay?" (Sorry, love the...

Parents Cute points??? Do they exist?

Are boys also graded on this same criteria? Are they expected to smile and stuff? I'm new to gymnastics so this is all news to me.

Parents First meet--what do I need to know?

Holy cow, I'm glad I asked. I wouldn't have known about any of this. Love this forum!

Parents First meet--what do I need to know?

I wish I had a bony booty, but nope. :D I have an old lady back, though, so I bought a stadium seat that has a back. It folds up nicely. I'm glad I asked, because I never would have thought to bring cash, and I would have arrived with about 28 cents.

Parents First meet--what do I need to know?

My daughter joined the level 3 team this year, and her first meet is next weekend. I've never been to a meet (or any kids sporty thing, for that matter). What should I expect? Anything I should/shouldn't bring? About how long do these things last at this level? (I want to make sure I bring...

    Parents Were you a gymnast?

I have never voluntarily done anything athletic in my life. Ever. I rocked the school newspaper back in the day, though, and I turned the pages on books like a boss. :D

    WAG Courage to ask parents

I would start with something like, "Mom, I want to talk to you about something that's important to me." It might help if you have a sheet of paper with the costs and time commitments laid out, so she can see that you've put a lot of thought and research into this. When my kids come to me with...
