    Parents Front Handspring

They must be harder because the kids learn them after the back handspring? It might depend on the kid. My daughter still struggles with her robhs, but can do the front handspring. I believe they are competed at L4 for the JO girls and Xcel Silver for the Xcel girls (at least that what it seems...

    Parents Trouble Getting Back Handspring

Wondering if anyone else out there had a child who had trouble getting their back handspring - and if so if they finally got it? My daughter has been doing gymnastics for 5 years - she started in the preschool classes, did pre team 4-6, started level 2 at 6. She started working on back...

    WAG Ages at xcel?

My daughter is 8 and doing Xcel Silver this year - she was not ready to move to level 4 and chose this instead of repeating level 3. There are two 8 year olds on the team, and a few 9 year olds but I would guess most of the girls are 10-11. The golds are 10-14.

Parents Pushing kids until they cry?Just part of gymnastics?

I know that gymnastics is a tough sport and that conditioning is not fun or easy. I also know that in order to get better/stronger you need to push beyond your limits. Is it typical/normal for the girls to be pushed in conditioning until they cry? This is most of the team crying, not just my...

    Parents Is Xcel worth it?

With Xcel she would be doing less hours than the level 4 kids who are moving up but more than the level 3. At our gym the levels 4s do 14 hours, the Xcel silver girls do 10 hours and the level 3s do 8.5.

    Parents Is Xcel worth it?

Thank you everyone for your replies. She has worked so hard this past year, and while I understand the coaches decision, it was hard to hear. She will be leaving friends that she has been with for the past 4 years. I really appreciate the feedback. The coaches have said she could move back to...

    Parents Is Xcel worth it?

My daughter is 8 years old and has been doing gymnastics for 5 years including 2 on two levels of pre team, then competitive level 2 and competitive level 3. She did not do very well at the meets this year, largely because she is not very flexible and that is really a problem. Her coach has...
