In xcel you can do skills range from A-D (E skills are banned in xcel)
In JO you can do skills ranged A-E
(A skills being easy skills such as cartwheels, walkovers etc.)
(E skills being skills you would see collegiate gymnasts compete such as full in tucks, double front tucks etc.)
(D skills...
Platinum for now, since it might take a bit to get higher skills for bars, depending on how fast you progress on bars, you might be able to do diamond at the beginning/ switch half way through the season, if you gyms allows level changes half way through the season
Gym hours a week are the same as comp season and summer practices (3 hours for preteam, 6 hours for level 2, 9 hours for 3,4, and xcel, 12 hours for optionals), however, practices are more in the middle of the day instead of late nights on school days and early mornings on saturdays.
Practices...
We have had some girls move down levels (but that was more of they started training a higher level, but didnt show up to many practices or thought it was safer to stay in their old level)
Ok, I know this post is from a LONG time ago (Idek how I found this post), but I also like making dream routines if I ever went to the olympics (im only an xcel gold lol) (using 22-24 COP)
Vault
Cheng vault (5.6)
Front handspring pike 1.5 (5.1)

As long as she turns 5 before her first meet, she should be allowed (or if level 2 is some other stage of pre team)
I think though that holding her back another year wont be terrible, considering maturity of 4 year olds.
Are you talking about beam?
If so, no, you can either do another flight skill (dive cartwheel, roundoff, fhs, etc.)
Or you can do a acro series (bwo bwo, cartwheel cartwheel, handstand backwalkover, etc.)
However, some gyms may require flights for 6, but it is not limited to bhs step outs only
What length do you usually have girls run on vault?
I am an xcel gold gymnast (moving to platinum next season) and my coaches would like me to extend my run to get more power on my vaults.
I currently run at 40Ft (I do a half on vault), and most girls in my level from my gym run 45 - 50ft...
You can switch into JO at any level, I would suggest if you want to switch into JO, compete gold first so you can get the compulsories out of the way. You have to petition in to it if you are 13 or older.
Hi,
My acros on beam this year have been bridge kickover and handstand (changing it to cartwheel for last meet and forever hopefully). I am also working back walkovers and I can do them with a spot on high beam.
My beam coach loves working original/unique skills, and I have a history of...
To get the 0.5 for the start value, you only need a pass with 2 saltos, and another pass with a minmum of "B" salto. However, you not lose 0.5-0.2 in difficulty, you have to do two pass of "C" + "B" saltos directly(?) connected. Passes you can work on are back 1.5 step out to r(bh) back full and...
I feel like what you wrote is something I wrote (very similar experiences). I have had my flyaway on and off now for 3-4 years.
What has helped me regain it the times I have lost it and got it back is the drop drill (tap swing and landing on your back into a pit or on a resi mat)
Another...
Hi, I am an xcel gold gymnast, my current front tumbling pass is a front tuck on floor, but I can do front pikes as well. However, I also LAUNCH forward after them because I have a lot of front tumbling power. I know you are allowed to compete front layouts in gold, but I haven't worked them a...
For back handsprings:
- It is easier (for me and most people I know) to get it standing first and then practicing connecting it to a roundoff with a spot after you are comfortable doing it by yourself
Drills I liked doing when I was learning a BHS was
- Doing it over an octagon mat
- Doing it...
It is different for everyone, but in my case, it sometimes can take a coach to say "make sure you do this" and it will make my form better instantly, or I can go through whole season(s) by working on making a skill look nice (for me, that is vault).
