I'm going to be in level 9 this year, and all my coaches seem to have very different opinions on what skills are worth and how to earn bonus. Our CoP is outdated, so I don't trust it.
I just have a few quick clarification questions...
What is a straddle back on bars worth? I would be doing...
Lately I've been working on a lot of aerials and front handsprings on beam, and I've noticed that it is a LOT harder to get that first foot on than it is in a back handspring.
Most of the time my foot is on really well, but sometimes my foot is off to the side in my aerial and I tweak my ankle...
I've been going to my gym for about three years, and I love it. The coaches are nice, it's close to my house, I have a lot of fun there.
However, for the life of me I cannot figure out why my team is so bad at competitions. We go roughly 12-18 hours a week, we work on our skills for a long...
A few days ago I found out that I have a subluxated shoulder that has been coming partially in and out of the socket while doing gymnastics for quite a long time.
My doctor told me that there are shoulder braces that can stop my shoulder from pulling in and out so I can return back to bars...
A couple months ago I started having shoulder pain. When it didn't go away, I went to get it checked out.
Apparently my shoulder could have tendinitis, bursitis, or even be subluxated. Because of this, I'm not allowed to do bars until I found out what's wrong. As much as my hands are grateful...
I started competing when I was 11, and in the 4 years since then I've accumulated a LOT of meet shirts.
Unfortunately, since then, I don't really fit all the meet shirts I have. I'm pretty sentimental, so I don't want to throw the shirts out. Not to mention, they weren't cheap!
My question...
Well, I've been working on paks for the past two months, and at first they went really well. They were high enough, decent form, and I actually started doing them by myself.
Unfortunately, two weeks ago I hit my toe on the low bar really hard. It was pretty bad, I bled all over the place, it...
I will be a junior this coming school year, and competing level 9 in the winter/spring season.
I've wanted to be part of college gymnastics for a very long time, and my question is, what should I do to become part of it?
If there are any questions you'd need to know about myself to make this...
I was just wondering if anyone else had heard of Beachbody Insanity, P90X, or any other video of the sort.
Right now I'm on my fifth week of Insanity, and I've got to be honest, it's insane!
I've heard a lot about unique skills in gymnastics. Personally, I prefer them, but a couple questions come to mind.
Are they really worth it?
Don't get me wrong, unique skills such as a shushonova on beam are really fun to do, and they make you stand out from the crowd. But it seems like it...
Yesterday I was on floor when I heard possibly the loudest, most painful sounding shriek I have ever heard at gym. When I looked over, I saw that a level 2/3 (probably around 8 years old) had fallen off beam and broken her arm.
And she didn't just crack the bone. She broke both bones in her...
I was wondering if anyone had any good drills for back handspring back handspring on the beam.
I have a back handspring on the high beam, as well as a relatively consistent back walkover back handspring and handstand back handspring.
Also, I tend to jump ever so slightly to the right.
Thanks!
I'm a gymnast who is very lucky to have a wonderful and very helpful coach. He is great to me, teaches me a lot, and I'm grateful for that.
However, sometimes it seems like his information is a little off.
I'm trying to go for level 9 next year, and a lot of the answers my coaches give me...
I recently applied to Stanford Online High School to take advanced courses and help my chances of being accepted to a good college. I was accepted, however, there was no way my family could pay the $9,800 per year attendance fee, so my parents agreed to apply for financial aid.
With roughly a...
So, I'm currently in level 8, and it seems that the most important thing right now on bars to my coaches is whether or not we hold my feet. In their defense, my teammates and I do drag our feet a lot, but how important is the pirouette in a level 8 routine?
How big of a deduction is it to hit...
I've been to two different competitive gyms before, and they both followed very different daily schedules. At my first gym, we would do bars and beam every day for at least an hour, and we would do vault and floor very rarely unless it was meet season. But my current gym follows a very rigid...
Well, today I peeled off the high bar in a flyaway to my face. This was for multiple reason, (probably not technique though, I've done giant flyaways for years... just putting that out there...), but mostly because the bar was VERY slippery. This got me thinking, how on earth do you prevent...
Hey Chalkbucket!
I'm competing level 8 for the second time this season, and so far everything is going well... except my bar routine... Despite my extra year of practice, my bar routine has gotten only slightly better. But one thing that is still a problem for me is my clear hip to handstand...
I'm going to apologize ahead of time if this post is redundant or if it's not in the right spot... I've never written a post about T&T, so I'm not sure where it'd go.
Anyways, lately I've been feeling extremely burnt out over artistic gymnastics, and seriously debating quitting altogether...
Sorry if this is in the wrong category, I wasn't quite sure which one it'd go into.
Lately I've been having some problems on bars. One day I can do my cast handstands every time, the next I fall over without even getting my legs together (I do straddles). Another day I make every clear hip...
