Parents Guess who's joined the Level 2 team....

My little Julia has decided she really does want to do gym. Apparently she's been missing it and wanted to try a week of rec camp. Before leaving on vacation HC asked me if I was interested in having her try out for team. I was shocked! She's been out of gym for about 18 months. She loves her...

Coaches L2/3 with short attention spans

I coach training team (level 2/3) as well as our L3 gym team - the girls are all between 4-7 y/o. They practice between 2 and 3 hours at a stretch, with a 15-minute break in between. We just picked up our new girls in June - and by now, I thought this problem would be solved: they have...

    Parents first L2 meet done!

Things went great. DD a young 6 had just gotten her vault "over" (I think she had some fear issues) maybe four practices ago and then they didn't do vault last practice she said, so pretty good! Vault -- 8.05 -- I'm very pleased with that as see above. I was so thrilled! Bars -- 7.85 -- I...

Level 2, Age 9 floor routine question

My daughter is 9 years old. She was in recreational since she was 4, until this past October. She started Level 2 competitive in October 2009. I am questioning her floor routine. She is competing next weekend...Her floor routine does not include any walkovers. The tumbling lines only include...

USAG level 2 and 3 routines need them asap!

I believe you need to buy the USAG book to get the pictures and all, but if you search the web, you should be able to find a chart that lists the major elements. If the gym expects you to teach them, I would expect them to provide the book for you to use.

    Parents Little gymmie's L2 bars!!!!

So, my little DD (age 5) has been training L2 for 7 months. It's been a loooong 7 months...some things she has picked up but has REALLY REALLY struggled on bars. At her last meet she got a 6.25 and still needed spots on all 3 skills. About a month ago, she finally got her pullover.:D She's...

    Coaches Confusion about L2 Floor

My niece competes L2. Early this year her coach had her team practicing on all skills that were for their routines. They recently had a meet where they did not perform one of their listed skills for their floor routine. The coach had them "hinge back" in their kneeling position rather than going...

Parents How long does it take to get to level 2?

I know the answer is "it depends" but how long could it REALLY take for a slightly timid, not horribly precocious but hard working and dedicated young lady of 5.5 to get to Level 2? Sigh. As explanation, my frustration is that my and my other child's car time could be cut down dramatically by...

Parents benefits to competing level 2?

The gyms closest to our home all compete Level 2. My daughter loves gymnastics but is not a "power player" type and will probably be 7 by the time she would get there, so it's not like she'd be very young. But what are the benefits? Either they've changed or I've been misinformed, but I...

    Level 2 State Meet ?

New to all of this, and my dd is competing in her first state meet in early May (FL AAU.) The coach mentioned she's competing in the "elite" group. What the heck does this mean when you're only L2. Is it like swimming where the kids are grouped into "heats" and compete against others with...

What is the difference btw. Level 2 & Level 3 non-sanctioned?

What are the differences between Level 2 and Non-Sanctioned Level 3? Our gym does not have a Level 2, only Non-Sanctioned Level 3. Another gym in a nearby city has a Level 2 team. Are the skills the same? Are the routines the same? Would they be competing together at the same meets? Oh...

Parents Can you give me some info on Level 2?

In our gym, when you are put on advanced pre-school and when you complete it, HC usually decides to put the girl on pre-team or L2. If the girl was put on pre-team, HC says that they are not ready to compete, but if the girl is put on L2 then that means HC wants them competing. HC said that when...

Question-how to help with arch back (level 2 floor)

Hello- Hoping somebody can help here. My 7 year old dd is a pretty new gymnast (has been in for 1 year, started in beginner rec classes and is now in level 2 USAG). She unfortunately has inherited my flexibility:eek:which is not a good thing. She has all of her level 2 skills except for...

    USAG level 2 beam routine

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a list of exactly what's required for the level 2 beam routine. There is one part where my daughter kind of hesitates (it's really awkward) and she acts like she's not sure what to do next---I'll try to explain: After the forward roll, she does...
