    Straddle/pike press handstands

Ok, so for a few weeks now, I've been working on a straddle press handstand. I get my legs equal with my shoulders ( I don't really know how to explain this) but then I can't get my legs up. Does anyone have any drills and conditioning? I want this skill really bad then eventually want to work...

    Pike on (uneven bars)

Hi, My coach said that I should start working on pike ons soon. I don't really know much about them technically but how different are they from squat ons (in terms of difficulty) and do you have to cast a lot higher? My cast is only at barely horizontal now, so how can I work on getting it higher?

My daughter is still "pike" on her vault

My daughter (level 2) is still what the coach calls "pike" on her vault. Presently, she is landing on mats and I guess she cannot progress to full handspring (without the mats) until she is no longer pike. Can anyone help? Is there something that would help her? I appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

    Pike or Straddle?

Hi! I was trying to find if someone posted about this but I couldn't seem to find it. My question is for the kip is it easier to straddle or pike? I have tried both but I am just not sure about what one is easier to do. I guess it is going to be different for everyone. I have heard that if you...

    Teaching a Pike Hold

Just wondering how I can teach my daughter (she is a 6 yr old, level 3) to do a pike hold. I think it will help her with many of her skills because she could use some help in the strength area. Not sure where to start.

Pike in L4 vault (mirrored from parents section)

In my experience, the most common cause of piking is leaning too far forward on the board. Here are a couple things I would try: 1) Start the run a little further back (say 6 to 12 inches), forcing her to take a longer hurdle 2) Tell her to think about pushing the board forward with her feet...

JO Value for gainer tuck or pike off END

Does anyone know what the value of these skills are? Does it matter if they go off one or two feet? Thanks so much.

    Backward pike roll - HELP!!!

My daughter is a L3 gymnast. Though she works hard at it, she simply cannot get her Backward Pike Roll without bending her arms. If she keeps her arms stright, she gets stuck on her head and falls over sideways. I have tried to get her to keep her head tucked and drive her hips, but she...

Coaches Training a double front pike

I have one guy on my team who, despite otherwise not being particularly strong on tumbling, has an insanely powerful punch. He can't do a clean back layout, but he can already do a punch double-front onto a mat in the pit at floor height. No cowboying, no crouched landing, no nothing; it's...
