We are moving the end of the month to Texas and of course to a new gym. There are two good gyms in the area, although one is much much closer to where we will be living so unless theres something terrible about it we are pretty much set on where she will be going. I called the gym last week and am still waiting on a call back from whoever is in charge of the team but based on scores I could find online it seems that neither of these gyms compete level 6. My DD competed 4 last year (scoring 36s & 37s all year) and then scored out of level 5 a couple weeks after the state meet. Her current gym doesn't compete 5 at all since the new level changes. She just got her level 6 beam routine and floor music and will be learning her floor routine in 2 weeks (its a hand me down from an older optional who got a brand new routine). She is going to be CRUSHED if she has to go back to compulsories this year, she is already upset about moving away and this is just going to make things worse. Also, I think that compulsory season will have already started by the time we get down there (last week of august).
Any ideas on how to reassure DD that it will all be ok no matter what level she has to do? It has been a looooong road to optionals for her (competed level 2, two years at level 3, two years at old 4 and then last year at new 4) and she just turned 11.
Is it unrealistic to think she has a chance at having level 7 routines ready?
