Ha! Ha! And here I told my sofa sloth that he can't make a living playing Minecraft, he needs to do his school work ;)

Just helping sofa sloth with his taxes. You would be gobsmacked at what you can make if you know how. Oh and mine flunked out of college too.

I joke with my husband that with tuition and the fuel bc we have a drive, it's almost like we pay an extra house pmt each month.

And we do this AND horses..... *sigh*

Definitely feel the pressure with one income.

I have one of these, 21 yr old cave dweller. He didn't flunk out so much just stopped going and didn't withdraw.

He has not yet figured out a way to make money with his computer/game passion. Either that or he is hiding the cash from us. :p

Yes, I estimate we have paid $10,000/year for DD's optionals. It's not for the faint of wallet.

Totally agree here...have had at least one daughter competing upper level optionals since 2005, most years it was 2, and it has been 10-12 K a year EACH for all the expenses of travel, tuition, leos, grips, assessments, coaches fees, gas....

to the OP, I don't mean to discourage you but if you are feeling the pinch with a $150 leo, I would look long and hard as to whether I could keep up going forward in the levels....and if you really can't then I'd try to get her interested in other ( more economical) extra curriculars. YMA programs are usually significantly cheaper than private gym clubs so you might want to look at those. Good luck:)

Don't forget about injuries. Unfortunately, there will be injuries, and medical care and rehabilitation isn't cheap :(

Luckily I live in a country with free healthcare, and we also have good private health insurance, should we need it. So no worries there.

And TBH, even if I were rich, I still like to think I wouldn't be thrilled paying $150 for a Leo. The material probably cost a tenth of that, and it will be worn a maximum of 4 times.

And in all fairness I think my kid will get about a 15 wears out of, so that's what 10 bucks per:p
