    pre-meet rituals and superstitions

    My daughter's first level 6 meet is this Sunday. After her last practice yesterday we stopped to get ice cream. She chose gold medal ribbon flavor for good luck. This made me wonder if any of the girls here have any special rituals or superstitions before a meet.

    thumb position in cast handstand

    My dd just switched gyms. She learned to do a cast handstand with her thumb wrapped around the bar on the opposite side from her fingers. Her new coach wants her thumb next to her fingers, and dd is afraid she's going to fall. Is keeping your thumb next to your fingers the prefered way?
