So I have to create a health related research project for school, and obviously I wanted to do something gymnastics related. It's not really a paper, but a 3-fold poster board project...so it has to have a lot of visuals and be enough that I can put bullet points and really just put the...
I'm going to try and be as detailed as possible haha, I know what boat you're in and when I first started I wanted to know EVERYTHING about "typical" practices. First thing you should know, there is a big difference between the typical recreational practice and competitive practice. Since I...
I know this is a bit old and you have it by now, but I had the same problem. For the life of me I could not get my hands on when I did them on a low beam with panel mats stacked up. I wasn't scared, I just couldn't get it. However, the second I tried them on a low beam without the mats, my hands...
I'm not sure what it is, but lately I've been having a lot of pain when it comes to doing the splits. I've had right and left for about 3 years (still working the middle, I'm about 3 inches away from the ground). Anyways, our normal gym warm-up is a 5 minute run and then a few basic exercises...
I started gymnastics for the FIRST time when I was 14. So you being 14 and already doing level four is a lot better than you think. And yes you'll probably be the tallest and/or oldest, but it has its advantages. You'll be able to approach things more logically. Younger kids really don't...
Haven't gotten anything new in the past 2 weeks but I've improved a few of my upgrades.
Beam: better bwo bwo form (high beam) and round off on low beam.
Bars: better shapes with my giants on strap, freehip to hs on strap, layouts on pit bar.
Floor: RO BHS BT, FHS FT, and front layouts.

Hey guys, so last week I made my first giant on strap! (Cheers) I was so happy. But it was the strangest (and still kinda is) feeling ever. I was on strap and I was just tapping bigger and bigger in hopes of going over. Suddenly I hit the handstand and I began to feel like I was slowly falling...
Thank you so much everyone for all the great advice and responses! I will definitely ask my supervisor to watch a class. I will also ask the Mom for some techniques to better work with her daughter. If the mother continues to complain I will have my supervisor and I her talk to her.
Thanks so...
That's a great idea, asking the mom for some tips. The last thing I want her to do is feel bad or feel as if I'm throwing her kid out of my class. I want to be able to work the with the kid, I just need a different approach I guess. To some degree I already treat her differently then the rest of...
So I teach beginner rec classes and I had this new little 7 year old girl join my class about a month ago. It's been a month and this girl still has 0 skills achieved, she literally can't even walk across a floor beam. She doesn't listen to a word I say. I literally have to hold her hold and...
Love and hate are strong words when it comes to conditioning. I definitely don't love it, but I understand the importance, like getting stronger, and LOVE the results (overtime) so I do it without much complaining and make sure never to cheat.
And even though I don't hate either, they're...
I feel you. I've been working BWO BWO on beam. My first one is solid, but I always hesitate with my second and usually slouch my shoulders and fall to the side :/ it's frustrating because you already know you can do the skill!
But I find I do better if I have great connection and just go right...
Hey guys! So I'm currently training 3x a week for 4 hours w/ Xcel Platinum. However, at the end of the summer that is the end of my gymnastics training at my current gym. Initially I was supposed to do Club Gymnastics at my choice university but I didn't get accepted :/ so I'm reapplying for...
Yes! I learned pike first and then eventually switched to straddle. But I also tore my left hip flexor from doing push away straddle kips!! It hurt so badly and effected my gymnastics for about 2 weeks.
I'm tall, but I learned pikes first. After having my kip for about 3 months I switched to straddle simply because they are easier. Now I only straddle, but some days I pike just to switch it up a bit, haha.
So I've been struggling with standing back handsprings and step-outs for a while and it's just frustrating my coaches and myself. It's definitely not a strength issue (I'm one of the strongest girls on our team which is xcel platinum) So in my back handsprings my arms ALWAYS bend. They bend so...
