Coach
Hi

Ok so i am new to the US, and the program i coach is still very green. I do have one level 10 who since i started coaching where i am at (about 1yr going onto 2 now) has been on and off with his gymnastics. However he has recently snapped out of his slackness and has committed himself to training hard. His goal is to qualify for the Visa Championships on day (he is 17). Anyways whether he will make it or not is beside the point.. the question here is what is the procedure to qualify for the Mens and if anyone knows Womens Visa Championships.. What are the steps.

USAG website does not seem to provide all the answers i need, so i would like you help if anyone knows.

Thanks

to early to ask for 2012. won't be the same as 2011. 2012 is the olympic year with trials. maybe ask in jan/feb.

I mean in general really. What is the procedure? What meets do they have to do, or how does it even work, its not like just because you are level 10, that you can go there. So how does it work.

nothing is general in my opinion. they change it all the time. and sometimes several times in just 3 months. the boys is not so bad, but it changes also. i don't want to generalize. hope you understand. as soon as i see changes it i'll post it up if someone doesn't see it first.:)

and actually, you could be a level 10 and move right in to the elite program within the same season.

here's what it was for the girls for 2011:

then this: but it will change

here's the mens and hopefully it won't change:

So wait... how many times a year do you have Visa championships? Twice? I thought it was the National Championships? Why would there be 2 in one season?

actually, they get a chance to qualify in both seasons. depends on what USAG says as far as what meets count.
