Mind you, I haven't received that bill yet, so.....

But - that doesn't really sound too terribly out of the ballpark of the numbers I've heard for our gym. But, as I was telling someone earlier today, my comparison sport is hockey (which both my boys play), so my mindset is skewed. Nothing our gym has thrown at us has really caused me to catch my breath.....yet. But ice time? Hokey smokes. That'll cause heart attacks for sure.

Question, though, about bags. Our gym doesn't do them (or, I should say, hasn't in the past. We'll find out for definite on 8/3 what this year entails) and I've always thought they looked so nice to have a team have the same bag. Anyway - my point - Q will need a bag, then, and I'm looking around in case I need to order/find one. What brands are your bags? What size? Any special features?

They really do better with a smaller bag. They only need it for grips, wrist guards, water bottle, extra hair stuff, etc. We got those small backpacks with strings online with the gym logo and they were about $10. Bigger bags just get in the way.

Ice time for hockey where we are is about $450/hr and it is about 3K-4K for the basic kit with uniforms and bag. So there is no sticker shock for us when it comes to gymnastics.

Glad to know I'm not the only hockey/gym parent here! I does help keep gym prices in perspective (as skewed as that perspective may be!) ;)

I'm thinking of a bag more for competition - somewhere to stick her shoes, warm ups (which we know how $$ they can be, and with everyone having the same ones - it's easy to get them mixed up, lost, etc), in addition to the things you mentioned.

She has a string backpack (regular mesh under armor one) that she can toss stuff in to take back and forth to practice. I was just trying to think of something she could take on the floor with her to keep herself a little more organized than tossing stuff in a pile.

Hey, I don't feel so bad now about my dd's stuff now that I see how much some other gyms charge! :D DD's gym gets a new leo every year. I think we paid $95 the year before last but last year was $115. We get warm-ups every other year. We got them last year for another $115, so I only have to worry about a new leo this year. So, all in all it was $230 for everything, and the booster club gives all the girls a bag with the gym name embroidered on it. No separate charge for that, but I'm sure it's hidden in our booster club family fee ;).

I like that leo! It looks just as nice or better than the $200 one that DD is getting.

LOL I won't know whether y'all made me feel better or not. It sounds like it is the norm, but holy cow, still expensive. But I guess I can't complain to many of you as you are paying more than that. I am hoping to get a used one, but would have to do it within the next week as they need the money that quickly. A little notice would have gone a long way. Thanks everyone!

We use a bag by Kobe. It is a detachable front pocket which is great for keeping your grips separate. I use the one end picket for her water bottle and a few snacks. We have the top and front pocket embroidered with the club logo and the top with their name.

Our team leos and warm-ups are from GK so $300-$350 sounds about right. We also have to add shipping out of Country, duty, and exchange rate for currency. We love the fit and are always complimented when away at meets.

I have to say those prices are about right. We have about $300.00 a season for comp wear. I have to say the prices don't scare me too much either. We have a hockey player in our house and at $300 - $500 for skates alone not counting the ice time. When you have that not much scares you.

Good luck!

I was just helping measure the team girls for their comp leos last week. They are paying $140 each for them. Last year we spent $130 on a warm-up. Now I am kicking myself because my daughter's group isn't competing this year and I know she will have grown out of it by the next year. Sigh, I guess someone will get a good deal on it if we have a trade event.

Just gave dd's gym $200 yesterday for comp leo, her gym gets a new comp leo every year. Thankfully, I do not need a new warm-up and this is not a yr for new routines. Those summers when everything hits are very expensive! Enjoying the light payment this yr! :D

I helped measure girls this morning for our new leos. You think I could ask for a discount?? ;)

It was really an eye opening experience. Don't even think about going by their measurements. Most of the girls are all over the map. GK gives their sizes as Sleek fit and Growing Room fit. Well, if you're planning on having these leos for 2 years you sure don't want them to be a sleek fit. For example, dd's measurements would've put her in a CM. Sleek fit? CS! She tried on the CL and it fits perfectly, little room to grow, but she swam in the Adult XS. Some of the older girls have broad shoulders, smaller waists and hips. One size fits them better up top but is baggy on the bottom. The one that fits on the bottom is too tight up top. So, those will have to be special order. Now we just keep our fingers crossed that everything comes back the way we ordered it!

You are making me nervous Netty! I helped measure DD and though her measurements fell in the CXS I've actually had a dream than her leo was so small she couldn't wear it. She wears CXS now, but if she wears the leo at all it will be in the spring. I'm worried she's going to have a big growth spurt.

Our gym has the girls try on different leos that they have from previous comp leos and goes from there. My DD pretty much follows the GK sizing. She got fitted for her comp leo today and they put her in a CS, last year she wore a CXS with long torso for her comp leo. She can still wear her CXSs and CMs are definitely growing room for her. She does have one CL, but it is big on her. At her old gym, we had the GK rep come in with samples and she was the one that decided what size the girls would get.

Gymgirl521- Do you mean they send you an different sizes of the ACTUAL competition leo? That would probably be ideal. Since different fabric leos fit differently, add sleeves in and that changes things, too. DD actually got to try on a CS that someone didn't want last year and it fit her "perfectly" she said, not too tight, not too lose. :)

And just wanted to add that our gym, the coach that orders leos and does fittings like them to fit sleek fit, even if they are keeping it for 2-3 years, you just find a used one or order new. I doubt that a sleek fit will fit for 2 years, but they like them tight! LOL.

Just yesterday they had the girls fitted for the comp leos. We did have samples of the actual competition leos for the girls to use. That is nice because different leos definately do fit different! They have them them for 2 years so there is a little bit of wiggle room in Alex's leo (at least this is what she told me as I was not there when she was sized). Last year she had a child medium (dreamlight brand) and this year she is in an adult extra small (GK).:huge:
