Can anyone please tell me the changes for level 7? My DD is dying know after repeating 6 this past season.... she really wants to move up. Thanks!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm also seeing L7 now requires a cast to vertical whereas before it was a cast to 3/4. And L6 was cast to horizontal and now requires a cast to 3/4.

Are they going to judge L7 vault differently now that they landing is to stacked mats? For FHS, girls won't be able to land on their feet if they use the same technique that is being rewarded right now.

You have to read the small print. The real change here is in level 6.

Level 7 can can still receive a10.0 SV as long as they have a cast to 3/4, and any cast not to handstand still incurs an amplitude deduction.

For level 6, they can still get a 10.0 SV as long as they have a cast above horizontal, but if they cast to 3/4 or higher, they receive no amplitude deduction.

One difference I see is that there is now a "angle of arrival" deduction for all the L6/7 timers. You have to come on by 45 from vertical for no deduction. This is the early entry necessary for flipping vaults.

Got it. Aren't these different than before (or what it was this year)?

So the level 8 beam is still acro series with 2 elements, one with flight but the up to level deduction comes into play if they are not both flight? Am I understanding that correctly?

Need a two B flight series and two additional acros(at least one a B) to get no dueduction.

So last year in level 8 my dd did BWO- BHS, FWO and BHS-BT dismount...I'm assuming that for this year she would have to change the BWO-BHS to BHS-BHS? She routinely scored 9.3~9.4 last year. She had the BHS-BHS but it wasn't as clean.

Kind of - I think she would need to change her dismount to RO-BT at a minimum, as if she does BHS-BHS as her series, the BHS into the dismount would be the 3rd BHS an receive no credit. I could be wrong there.

Previously, Level 6 only had to reach horizontal... but had the same angle deductions as L7-10 for not hitting handstand. NOW, they only get deducted if they don't hit 45º from Handstand (basically if they dont make it to the L7 requirement).
Basically, they are allowing for L6s to not have to cast to handstand ... so that may be a new, additional deciding factor for a gym between Level 6 and Level 7.

Not a question about the code specifically but more about the digital copy- when there are updates/replacement pages do those update automatically? Or do they send you a link to download them? Or do you just need to bounce back and forth between your iBook and the replacement pages on the USAG website?

I haven’t purchased this code, but I do own the xcel code digitally. Occasionally I will get a notice on my iBooks that there is an update. I tap the update and it merged into the existing book. I would think this would work the same.

Thanks! I'm a sucker for the paper books, but that aspect of the digital version would certainly make life a lot easier.

If she is doing underswing/counter swing/tap swing forward to layout flyaway(like level 5 but one less tap swing), that is a salto dissmount. If she is doing underswing to stand(like the level 3 dismount on the high bar) that is not a salto, and used to be allowed at level 6.
Thank you!
