Ok, so I need help. My DD is competing diamond and had a 9.8 SV on bats at her first meet. The SV was verified by the score card, and seen on the judges table by my daughter and her coach at the meet. Her coaches do not have an updated COP (either JO or Xcel) so they’re kinda lost in the sauce with her. Her routine is:
1. Kip (A)
2. Cast (A)
3. Clear Hip (B)
4. Toe shoot/hecht to high bar (B)
5. Kip (A)
6. Front flyaway (A)
They thought that the small catch she does to reverse her hands prior to her dismount would be counted as a cast and be her last A skill, but it wasn’t. Ok, that makes sense. That would be a 9.9 SV though, right? I asked a coach friend in another state, who told me that the toe shoot/hecht is an A release skill, so she’s missing a B circle or release skill and that lowered her SV. If that is the reason though, she’d lose 0.2 (or is it 0.3?) for the B, and also 0.5 for missing the special requirement of a second B circling skill or B release skill. If the toe shoot/hecht is an A, she should’ve had a 9.3 SV (or 9.2 if it’s 0.3).
So we are all lost at the moment. Can anyone with a code tell me the absolute certain value of a toe shoot (5.207 in the code)? Or how she had a 9.8 SV.. or if maybe that was a mistake and it should’ve been higher or lower?
My understanding is that diamond requires: 5As and 2Bs, a skill above 45 degrees (cast or clear hip), a clear circling B skill, a second B circle skill or a B release skill, and a salto dismount. We know the clear hip is a B (or C if close enough to handstand). We thought the toe shoot (https://balancebeamsituation.com/elite-skill-database/toe-shoot/) was the B release and she was set. A 9.9 or even 9.8 SV is no biggie, but the worry now is that it’ll be much lower at subsequent meets.
Help? Thank you!
