Hello! She came out happy! Coach said she’ll be in their artistic squad. She’ll train and be out in for whatever grade best suits her when the time comes (will there even be any this test due to covid?).
What did surprise me was the hours. I’d assumed that she’d need to go for way more hours...
Thank you all! Just a quick update - my daugter is going along tonight to try a session and see what she thinks!
I’m worried about telling her current gym if she chooses to leave though as she’s been there a very long time! They know she wants more though....

Hi all
So long story cut short. My 11 year old has been at the same gym since she was 8. She is in squad but not artistic. General 4 piece. She has always wanted to do artistic but her gym have always stated that she started too late for that pathway. They say had she started a year earlier she...
Sorry should have made that clear. I’m UK. So here they start on club grades 6 then 5. After that they either go regional grades 4 through to 1, national 4-1 or compulsory 4-1. She would do the regional 4 to 1 route, skipping club grades 6 and 5. There are no grand dreams of olympics here. She...

I know they do the club grades yes as some of the girls were just awarded club grade 6 and another couple club grade 5 last month. As for 4 to 1 I'm not certain but think they do all 3 paths as their web page states gymnasts competing from regional through to elite?
They compete both regionally and nationally -- I'm not sure about higher levels but I do know they have children on the elite path? I am sorry if my answers aren't helping --- I'm learning as I go here!
Thanks for the advice -- I'm totally new to this. I can find results for county grades, in age levels and out of age levels --- lots of names in county grades and in age levels but only a few in out of age levels. I'm assuming they are the same thing but for different age groups?? Really no clue...
So daughter had her second session in the new gym she's trialling in today -- coach said she was like a different child (got overwhelmed and had melt down in first session) - smiley, listening and confident However she did say she feels daughter has picked up lots of bad habits in old gym and...
UPDATE ....
So daughter had her second session in the new gym she's trialling in today -- coach said she was like a different child -- smiley, listening and confident However she did say she feels daughter has picked up some bad habits in old gym and skill wise is quite behind the other girls...
Thank you all -- such lovely words of wisdom!
Yes Faith they do have snack and drink breaks -- she aye her snacks but barely touched her water! Will have to keep an eye on that! Good idea about chocolate milk!
Honestly, I think the near constant negative feedback I've been given over my little girl for the past year has chipped away at me! It's most definitely done the same to my daughter! You are totally right! She is 7 -- and only just!! Thank you!
Oh thank you!! I was having a moment of self doubt over whether we'd done the right thing or not! The coach seemed understanding so that's good! I've explained that tears and/or shouting won't help that feeling and to try and take some deep breaths and tell the coach if she's not...
Hi all. Some of you may remember that I was in a dilemma over whether to change my daughter's gym and on the advice of you great people, I did! Thank you to all those who replied and offered advice as it really helped!
On to the question -- is it normal to find the transition from one gym to...
Thank you all -- we have decided to take the plunge and make the move! She starts Thursday! She is excited and nervous all at once -- mostly excited though!
I think I will do -- I gave my daughter the choice. She was torn for a few days then told me she wants the new gym because they were kind and didn't give her a funny feeling in her tummy. It's such a shame though as the kids in her current team are so lovely and do are the parents!
