You have access to mats and stuff yes?! As beth said, you're closing your shoulder angle which is 'drilling you into the ground'. When my kids do this I have two drills I like to do.
1. Do the first part of the back handspring as far as the handstand, then with a mat in, fall to your tummy...
Hmmm, the kids I coach don't really have any weird ones, just the plain old regular habits like counting, rolling ankles and wrists... Definately a nervous thing!
Although the her stomach was doing somersaults (get the pun ;) haha), she pulled away.... She couldn't do this, not tonight, not with Olympic Trials tomorrow...

When you say "I have plenty of time to flip, so I could try".. You mean with spotting right?! My tip... Keep working the timers until you feel confident enough to do the skill! Don't feel pressured into doing it!
Her coach finally gave in eh?! :) At least the coach can train her the skill correctly now rather than her picking up the bad habits that trampolines tend to bring!! Good luck to her, hopefully she'll be throwing an awesome BHS soon! :)
Whoo, first Irish :) No we have our own system here. Levels 1 through to 10 and onto Junior Code and Elite. The system is just in the process of a revamp, and things are looking up for Irish Gymnastics with new coaching education available etc.
