What exactly do you want to know?

Here is how it works in our state. Levels 7-10 have to declare as event specialists by a certain date, usually around the middle of February. During that process (usually completing a form) they have to declare which events they are specializing in. It's usually two events. In order to qualify for state, they must get a minimum score of 8.0 on their events one time in the season. At state, they have a chance to advance to regionals. In our region, advancement is determined by a formula based on the projected number of girls competing that level at the state meet. The process may differ by state/region.

In our state you can't declare event specialist till 9, but you can still make states as one.

In our state, you don't have to declare, but you have to get a 9.2 on the event during the season to get to go to states. So I am thinking you need to ask your coach or check out the rules in your state.

I know the rules because I am an event specialist. We went over everything before I decided. It's not the easiest thing to change to, and I'm not sure what the score is to go to states, maybe an 8.0? But I do know that for regionals you have to get a 9.0

It depends on your state and your region.

I do think it varies by state. One of our 7s is going as an event specialist to state. We had an 8 go as well. they had to score a 9.2 on their event to qualify. the 8 did not make regionals. The 7 will compete this weekend :)

Our state, you can't be an ES until 8. You only need an 8.5 to qualify to state and a 9.0 to qualify to regionals.
