Has anyone dealt with their child having Iselin's Disease?

My daughter had xrays today and saw a specialist. The specialist said that in my daughter's case, it was caused by her femoral anteversion disorder which causes her to walk with her feet turned in, which in turn caused her tendons to pull on that growth plate which caused the Iselin's Disease. He is wanting to do casting, customized orthotics, equestrian therapy (for her hips), and go from there. I am nervous about the casting part. When I was at the office I thought he mean the casting was like developing a mold or something for the orthotic, but then I got home was reading up online and it said that the casting is actual CASTS for 4-6 weeks on the affected foot, in her case both feet are affected. Eeeek. Not liking the sound of this

i know a guy...he's published something on this and i can't find it at the moment. Iselin's doesn't come up a lot in gymnastics. it's typically a runners problem. anyway, email or call this guy. my recollection is that it had to do with a valgus in-shoe wedge orthotic cut at a certain and precise angle. there was also some ice therapy involved. that's all i can remember.

No - they meaning true casting. But I like dunno's suggestion of contacting that man for an opinion.

Yes, I finally have answers LOL!!!

The casting was what I originally thought- just plaster casts to make her orthotics. The orthotic that dunno described is exactly what they are making for her :) . Thanks for the info dunno!
The casting was done about two weeks ago. We are still waiting on the call that the orthotics are ready.

I am going to google this and check it out. My daughter had some Neuro damage at birth and her one hand and foot turn in slightly. She has been plagued with alot of injuries over the years, Sever's, Osgood Schlatters (sp?), last year she had fractures in the growth plate under her knee, she can be "clumsy" at times, especially when running which she likes to do. I did take her to a Podiatrist who casted her feet (yes, plaster casts to get the orthodics made) and she does have orthodics now. She has not been wearing them since the weather got warmer and has been wanted to wear flip flops, but I am going to make her start using them again. I have always had a mommy theory that her injuries were caused by her one foot turning in and maybe throwing her gait off, balance, and causing stress on her heels, foot, knees, I am intrigued by the Iselin's Disease. Never heard of it until now!

My daughter also loves her flip flops and with summer right around the corner I feel it's going to be a battle getting her to wear tennis shoes. I've also wondered how it will affect her when she is barefoot, going with and without the orthotics.
