Just curious if recently minted Jr. Elites (those who became Jr. Elite this year via the qualifying meets but have not competed any Elite competitions yet) - are they able to compete in JO States/Regionals/Nationals provided they obtained a qualifying score at a 10/Open session meet?

I recall there was a young gymnast who competed an Amanar at last year's JO National but then went on to compete at American Classic, Secrets and P&G.

Yes, they can still compete JO meets until they compete at Classics. After that, they can compete in the "Open" division at JO meets.

What does Open division mean? I've seen it, but never knew. All these are elite?

"Open" division includes girls who have qualified to elite and want to still compete something besides camps and Classics, and Level 10s..it's usually a pretty competitive session at the meets you see it at.....although girls like Kai Rivers and Rachel Lukacs and many a good level 10 who decided not to do elite, can give the elites a run for their money..

An "open" session can also just be all Level 10s and no elites...it just means that that session was open to any elites that might compete...

side note: Open session is usually one of the last sessions and usually very competitive and fun to watch =) Lots of diversity in skills and ages and approach!
