Aww, sorry to hear that! Tinker Bell is also looking at scratching this weekend's meet due to a sprained wrist (fall from high bar last week), so we are right there with you and your gymmie.

Oh, sorry to hear that. Hope she has a speedy recovery!

Thanks, everyone! Went to ortho this morning. It is "just" sprained, but will have to scratch her 5th (!) meet this Sunday. Follow up in one week. States is May 13, so hoping she has some time before that. She was still just getting back from her last injury, so really, it is what it is at this point.
Oh no! I'm sorry!! But you're right, better to heal up for States! Poor kid :(

Well, that's a wrap. MRI on Tues indicated a bone bruise and slight ligament sprain. F/U at ortho today did not clear her. Says that any repetitive impact on bone bruise could lead to a fracture, and if sprain doesn't heal properly could weaken the area. He said two give it another two weeks. The earliest she could be cleared is the day before states. So we are shutting it down after lots of tears and disappointment. One day of practice after 4 weeks off is not enough for her to feel confident at this point, even with going for conditioning. For those of you following this injury plagued season, remember she was only a few weeks back from a broken finger. Onward and upward to summer training and what the next season brings!! Thanks for everyone's well wishes.

ETA: I had asked the doctor if, since she has been healing in a soft splint for the last 2 weeks, would she be able to practice with a brace, tape,, etc., just to finish out the season. Ummm...no. For those with more injury experience than I have, does this sound typical? Four weeks for a slight sprain and bone bruise? Thanks.

Sorry to hear that. But yes, focus on healing and a great summer of uptraining!

That is tough. But injuries do take time to heal. Honestly sprains especially as the connective tissues are stretched or torn and the muscles are forced to compensate. Thus takes time and rushing back can lead to a worse injury.
