...and I'm about at my wits' end. My DD injured her toe back in February and we still don't have any answers. We've been to an orthopedist, who did an x-ray and found nothing wrong, and are now seeing a sports medicine specialist who repeated the x-ray and added an MRI for good measure. She still can't find any reason my daughter should be in pain, yet she IS still in pain. We just came from a recheck after two weeks on crutches and in an air cast and now she's scheduling my daughter for a bone scan. The initial diagnosis is sesamoiditis, which basically means her sesamoid bones (under the big toe) are inflamed. Those bones are right where the foot pushes off to take a step

DD missed a meet last month and will miss another one this weekend, and the state meet is the first weekend in May. I really don't see any way she will be able to compete at State, considering that she hasn't fully trained since February. And since the nature of team means that you pay your fees regardless of whether your daughter is able to be at practice or not, I'm wishing I could just withdraw her from team until such time that she can properly train again, which doesn't appear to be any time soon. And you have the doctor saying to stay out of the gym and the coaches saying she should come in and condition and who do you listen to?

Can you tell I'm frustrated?

It's a very frustrating time when our Dd's are injured- most of all for the gymmies.

I trust Dds coach and she is great at modified training ( heaps of conditioning- the abs are rocking it :))

When Dd couldn't weight bear for 3 weeks there was still busy sessions- heaps of strap bar, a ton of conditioning etc, then modified training until she was back up to full strength.

Our GP stipulated the no weight bearing then wrote a letter saying he would leave the training program up to her coach which worked well.

I'm wondering if @headoverheels your doctor works with gymnasts? As I can't see a doctor familiar with the sport not wanting a gymmy to condition with a foot injury- so maybe a second opinion?

Best of luck:)
