I was just wondering what kind of team building goes on with your gymmies?

At DDs gym they have a couple outtings in the summer. (went to a couple cheaper (my momma would have said less exspensive..lol) water parks). They have lock-ins at the gym (going to have one the friday before halloween). The end of the ''season" banquet. All that kinda stuff. But Im wondering about in the gym kinda stuff.

Ive noticed some of the things they do..and one day I just about fell over watching. (Normaly once a week..on fridays..they do this right before its time to leave).

But they play this game they call ships and pirates. I found a link to something similar (im sure this is the basis for it) but theirs isnt nearly as involved. (they have about 10 comands adn thats it)http://www.teachingideas.co.uk/pe/pirateship.htm

They also do this thing where they go up in a bridge and they try and pull each other over. They can only grab feet..nothing above the ankle. Anywho, they chase each other around this way and try and knock each other off balance.

They have this thing Kadee calls the "booty bump". Where they have to grab their ankles and chase each other around. They cant let go of their ankles..and they can only "bump" each other with their booty to get the other off balance.

They play sharks. Where they take this big parachute (that they use with the rec kids) and one or two will get under it...and the rest hold onto it and run around raising it up in the air..then snapping it down real quick to the floor. (making a bubble with the sharks in it). While the bubble is up..the sharks have to try and pull a victim under the "water" with them. The bubble is only up for 10 sec. If a shark grabs a victim but fails to get them under the water in the 10 secs then the shark now has to come back out on the other side of the parachute. The idea is to get everyone under the 'chute.

Thats the "games" they play.

This is some of the team building they do. The basis of the "task" is pretty much the same. They just do it on different things. Line on the floor, beam, the net wall (kinda like you see on a pirate ship..bahahaha).

But they will have them line up. No particular order.

And they will then tell them. Get yourselves in order according to age, level, grade in school, by first name, by last name, birth month, birthday, height..ect.

And they will have to get themselves in order without saying a word to each other.

If they are on the line on the floor or on a beam..they can not leave that line.

Only one person can move/be moved at a time.

You can only move once. Once you move to a different place..thats your forever home for the rest of the task.

They can not touch the beam or floor with anything but their feet.

Once they are "locked" into their spot the must squat.

Its pretty cool to see these kids do this. This is all info they have to already know about each other..because they cant ask about it while the task is going on.

They have to figure out how to get everyone moved to where they need to be in one move (they can move 10 spots down..but it has to be done at one time). They have to tech put everyone in their place first in their heads..then start moving people to the place they need to be.

They will normaly start with the little ones first. And the biggest girls just pick them up and hand them on down the line till they are were they need to be. They keep the middle sized girls as close to their org place as possible. (they will still have to get a few of them moved too). By then everyone but the older girls are already squating down..so they just step over the top of them.

They do something similar on the net wall..they have to climb up and down and across to get where they need to be. Some times they have them line up across..sometimes top to bottom..ect.

Its just neat to see.

Just wondering what kind of silly games do they play at your gym (well your childs..lol). And what kind of team building tasks do they do?
