Pretty similar here. Pre-team is still developmental rec classes and set up in sessions. At Level 4 team starts and you get invited to work out for the summer and then team commitment letters are given out before school starts. At that point they have you and your gymmie sign the list of expectations. This certainly isn't binding but shows a commitment to stick it out through the end of competition season. Also, all competition fees are due and you don't get anything back if you quit. Training fees are monthly and will stop given 30 days notice. In subsequent years, summer training is summer training (usually more hours and uptraining) and then you must commit again before school starts in the fall.

There is no term to the contract, but you do sign some stuff concerning the behavior of the gymnast and parents. The stuff about the parents is actually pretty good.

At my DD's gym we go from Summer to States. About 7 months. I think it is just an understood thing though we have never signed contracts.

Maybe it's that we are from the same state..maybe because both gyms wear pink and black...lol.. But, it is the same way at DDs gym. There is no contract just a mutual understanding that the gym and coaches are commited to the gymnasts and the same is expected in return.
