My daughter just turned 9 yrs old and wants to go to the gymdog camp. Does anyone have any experience with this camp or any suggestions. She is L4 and although her father thinks she is too young for an overnight camp, she really wants to go. She also has never been away from home except with her grandparents. Any help will be greatly appreciated..

DD (age 8, training level 5) is going but as a day camper with 2 of her teammates. However, I've been told that supervision is excellent: they are always escorted to and from gym by staff and supervised closely afterwards. We are giving this a try first (day gym camp) where I can supervise her getting a good night's rest, etc. I think it really depends on the kid. Mine would try to "hang with the big kids" and not get the rest she needs (and at 8, she still goes to bed at 8:30 most nights). She'd be a wreck at sleep away camp after a few days. Good luck! DD is really excited about going.

i agree with dad.:)

i agree with dad and dunno. Personally i think a day camp would be awsome like lhmom. You still get to have some control and she still gets camp. If you let a 9 yr old do everything now what will she have to look forward to when she turns 12 or 13?

FYI: I was just on the Gymdogs camp website to download some forms and according to their home page, it looks like both overnight sessions are full. It says there is a waiting list if you are still interested.
