What muscles should I focus on?

I am working on toe touches, I'm pretty flexible, but I am having trouble getting my legs up very high. I know that gymnasts do a similar straddle split jump on the beam and I was wondering what muscles should focus on strengthening? Is it my abs and calf/quad muscles? What muscles are really need to complete that kind of jump?

I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense, I'm late for class. :) If it doesn't make sense, I can detail in like an hour and a half... :) But any help till then would be awesome cause I plan on working out this afternoon.

Use a trampoline and do billions of toe touches. Try to make them faster each time. This will work all of the muscles needed and the flexibility needed to do them. You may want to use a theraband for resistance when doing these as well.
