    Parents Wrist support under grips

Anyone have thoughts or product recommendations for supporting the wrists under grips? Obviously tiger paws not an option. Do most kids just tape if needed?

    Parents Gymnast wrist experience

So my gymmie is ending her season on a down note. Has had intermittent pain in wrists for a few months but always mild and tolerable. Something changed last week and now she can't even do a handstand or support on bars without pain. So we went to doc and x-rays fine so got the gymnast wrist...

    Parents Sore tailbone?

Anyone else's gymmie had a sore tailbone without any obvious reasons such as a fall? Seems to have occurred after vault and/or handstand pop drills on floor. It's not excruciating pain or anything. Just tender. I made her stay home yesterday just in case. Just curious on if others have...

Parents Arm length and casting to handstand?

Weird question, but I noticed today that my 13 year old DD has super long arms...trying on jackets and the sleeves are all too short even though the size is right. ha ha. Does having long arms make it harder to get a cast to handstand on bars? She's struggling to get this skill and curious if...

Parents Burning feeling/hands on bars even with grips?

Anyone have any suggestions to relieve the burning hands feeling caused by extended time on bars? my DD does wear grips. She is also older and taller... 5'3 at 13 so heavier than the average little gymmies. It sounds friction related. No rips... Just intense burning feeling. Can she use...

    WAG Another deduction question

What would the deduction be for multiple tapping of the beam with your foot before a back walkover? My DD does this right now. Most likely just a coping mechanism as she has had a block and some fears with this skill. Hoping that the more comfortable she gets doing them the less this happens...

    Parents How long??

My DD has a crazy fear of bwo on beam. It's been going on for 5 months now and shows no signs of going away anytime soon sadly. Has basically kept her from doing l5 score out and doing l6 this year. Just curious to hear from others who's kiddos been in same boat, how long did it take, etc...

Parents Level 5 to 6 with lower level 5 score?

Anyone had any experience with their gymmie going to level 6 if they had a lower level 5 score? My daughter is a 12 year old. Finished level 4 in May. No previous uptraining for level 5 prior to that. Plan as of now is to score out of level 5 and go on to 6 in January. Problem is, fear...

WAG Flat feet and proper punching?

Has anybody ever had a kid with flat feet that just could not do a proper punch? Are the flat feet the problem or just a contributing factor? My daughter is struggling with her punch front and also has always had a hard time punching properly for vault and just curious.

    WAG Spotting deduction?

Just curious if there is a spotting deduction for compulsory levels if a coach is on the floor during a routine/tumbling pass but does not touch the gymnast

WAG Adding a beep to beginning of floor music?

Anyone want to give a technology challenged Mom a clue as to how to add a beep at the beginning of floor music in mp3 format? And yes, I've checked into having it added where I purchased it (online), but it is not an option. Was very nice about it, but it is just not something they do.

Parents Experience with come back/regaining skill after back tuck fall?

Anyone have any experience with coming back and regaining a robhs back tuck after a fall? My daughter had newly learned hers and had just moved to unspotted and had a weird 'freak out' moment doing one, and basically stopped mid air. Kind of landed on her neck area and rolled backwards out of...

Parents Floor music...how to avoid the trendy new piece

So my DD is going Xcel next season and that means floor music. So fun! She's got a couple of favorites in mind but I fear they might be the 'new' trendy piece for the year and worry about multiple gymnasts having the same music at meets. How do you avoid this and what do you do if your DD is...

Parents Shaky jello legs on beam

My daughter has a horrible time controlling nerves on beam and said she has shaky jello legs at meets. Any tips on how to help her deal with this in the moment? She does fine on beam at practice but had her first meet last weekend and it was fall city. I could actually SEE her legs shaking...

WAG Kip cast for the older/taller girl

My DD is an 11 1/2 year old gymmie who is struggling getting a cast of any sort out of her kip. Is this something that could be related to her being older already or being height related? She's actually average height for her age at 4 ft 9, but 3 of those inches have come very recently. She...

    Parents Which path to take???

Curious on what parents and coaches would recommend in my gymmies situation. We are not at this crossroads yet, but will be in May. My DD will be 12 in early summer. She did USAG through level 3 then we changed gyms and the new gym felt she wasn't competition ready for level 4 USAG so we are...

WAG Texas Question...TAAF scores accepted by USAG?

My daughter competed level 3 USAG last year but we moved and new gym didn't think she was up to snuff for USAG level 4 so she is competing level 4 TAAF in the spring instead. My question is...If she wants to do level 5 USAG in the fall, would she have to do a level 4 score out meet first or...

    Parents Overtime on beam question

As my daughter was doing her level 4 beam practice the other day, she went over time and I overheard her Coach say that to her that she would not only receive an overtime deduction but would also lose credit for her dismount since it occured during the overtime period. Is this accurate? Or...
