the mat is the most important thing we found one at Christmas time from JC Penney. Its made from the same material as the Funoodles for the pool. Very light weight and its just like the big panel mats at the gym so DD can open it up to be a 1 inch big mat or a 4 inch small mat.

the only bar we have at him is an "iron gym" bar. It holds so well in the door way is easy to remove when not in use and you can do lots of different pull ups or leg lifts if you put it in the bottom of the door way it can hold feet for sit ups very useful

We also have an 8 foot on the floor folding beam so she can practice specific beam routines. along with that we have some free weights that everyone here uses and the resistance bands (look like big rubberbands)

the home practice is focused more on strength training and core training. Ask your coach they can give you a routine for home that will be good - ours did

the bar really isn't necessary at home if you feel she needs more bar practice then I would pay for a private so she has the experience coach to spot her and she is using the full sized bars - its a much better use of her time and money

When we started out we were trying to get things they would "enjoy" at home too but if they are going to get better at this then you have to think which will benifit them more.

doing Gym tricks at home I think is unsafe - you don't have the right mats, equipment, spotter and the biggest is no where near enough space to do them well. conditioning and strength training however you just need a small space for and not much in the way of equipment. Simple equipment that you can store in a closet will do. The more strength and conditioning they have the easier the "tricks" at the gym will be and they will get them sooner.
