    Coaches Co-coach making girls quit

Whoi's your head coach, who's the manager...do something This is really hard. Is the coach good at what she does? Do you respect her? If you do, treat her with the respect she deserves and tell her that the way in which she coaches is making people leave the gym. Do you love gym or do you...

    Coaches Late Pick Up

Discuss, formulate a relationship, encaourage communication - don't vent As coaches, it is our job to encourage communication. If the child is constantly being picked up late, that is rude behaviour, BUT don;t forget it's not the children's fault. If it''s so rude that you want it to stop, you...

    competition leotard prices...

still better than ballet! Just got a tutu for my 10yr, $500, not stretchy, fits like a glove, she better not grow :-) (give me gym leo's any day). And that's for one dance, still need the barefoot the lyrical, jazz, demi and contemporary outfits, plus the impromptu:-)

I was told last night that one of the girls I coach was in tears about gymnastics the night before. naturally I was concerned, .......well it's because she's done so well and is moving up soon and is going to miss me coaching her!!

    make-up/glitter

I think the difference is athletic vs show I have girls who dance and do gym, I LOVE getting them ready for gym, soo easy, leotard on, hair up, way you go. Plus dance is showy and makeup is a must on stage, gymnastics is strong athletic and powerful, so I personally don't think makeup suits...

Coaches To Ballet or not to Ballet

I'm talking about arms and hands in dance sections of floor and beam. What's your thoughts about someone for example on beam, with either 1) arms in 5th or 2) arms straight but soft ballet fingers as opposed to strong spiky fingers? My view is that as long as it's aesthetically pleasing, and...

    Disappointed

Thanks Hey all, thanks for the support, sometimes you question yourself too, when you do see it happening to others and they seem to be ok with it.However, your support has helped me decide to face up to the bully, wish me and my gorgeous amazing dd luck !!

    Disappointed

My dd used to value gym above all else, even though she was 'better' at other activities (in my view). Now she wants to give up gym, because of her coach.I've tried to get her to see the positive side of gym again, to support her with the coach, and tried to see the coaches side. I've tried to...

    Preschooler issue - question

What? I'm sorry, I'll probably get kicked for this, but might I suggest that you drop you son off, get him settled, i.e. bottle in right place etc, then leave!!! A step further woud be to tell him in front of the coach that he needs to listen to learn and join in, and not run off at all...

is this a safe teaching method?

safe?? I agree that it doesn't sound too safe. certainly with what you've provided. But, there may be more to it than what you've seen. Your dd may have done a lot of bridge work prior to this, or shown strength/ in her bridge/standup, or when the coach spotted, the coach may have had his/her...

    Let's create a gymnastics story...

Jenny said to her coach. I have been here for 6 months and never done anything except train and study. This is the only time I've ever gone out. I love gymnastics, but a reward for ahrd work isn't all bad. I have proven my ability to work hard and my trustworthiness. I promise I wont be out...

Ideas for easy effective group display

I have a very short amount of time to come up with an effective group display for six 7 to 8 year olds. This is for a small primary school display, and I happen to I coach all six at the local club, unfortunately we're now running short of time as we've been focussing on our regional champs...

    Coaches Too much fun?

There's learning in a fun way and having fun whilst in a gym. Maybe there's a differentiation that the parents are making. Newsletters and commmunication are important, what may seem an obvious progression to you, may seem like time wasting to a parent, and lets face it, some parents can decide...

    Deductions in cast handstands

Cast is the key As far as I'm aware, the CAST is the key. Make sure in casting to handstand through straddle that you are actually casting to handstand, not pressing to handstand. I.e. straight arms and legs, hollow chest legs straddle but hips open at all times, Then of course usual...
