They can start our CIT program, and coach when they are ready while still competing. We have found it is the best way to find coaches, hire from within. They know how we do things after spending years in our program.
It is our coach in training program. They shadow coaches and start to do the online coaches courses and safety courses. Our coaches mentor them and they get some training before they begin coaching.
Thanks for all the feedback. Those are good points. They were xcel before and some had goals of getting to level 7 so they have been doing meets to score out of 4 and 5. Most also do school sports and some are starting our CIT program, so that is probably the direction most of them are going...
We have a small group of older girls that will either be Level 6 or Platinum this year. Last year Level 6 was pretty similar to platinum so we thought it would be better to keep them together, and we were planning on doing L6. Now with the changes, we are debating on which way to go. It's...
More at MSU than "this Nassar thing". We used to be State fans. How low can they sink?

I haven't heard of that. We are going to a meet in Florida this year. They have separate awards for Small and Large teams. We have not been to a meet with different divisions for different size teams. Is it common? We have a small team and love the idea.
When girls get an individual routine, they generally have a private lesson and pay for the choreography. That can be any where from $50 to $300 depending on who does it, and how long the routine is.
The leap needs to be connected to another dance element, like leap step hop in the level 4 routine. Also, it seems like it might be hard to connect a cartwheel to a back roll without them moving their feet around a little in between, but maybe that isn't a problem for them.
When we were at a...
It would be interesting to hear how different states handle this. Our state allows you to compete up a level and still do your declared level at state. It doesn't seem like there is a limit to how many meets you can do this in.
It takes quite a while to perfect level 5 skills after they learn them, especially the kip and connecting the bar routine, getting the casts high enough coming out of the kip to the high bar etc (for most kids anyway.) I am looking at our team for next year with the expectation that in order...
Hi. Does he have a collar? Maybe someone thought he was a stray and is feeding him. I would check the shelters around there right away and often. They don't always keep animals very long. Check with ones that are a little further away too. My friends cat was found near a mall that is about...
Thanks gymtigermom and dawnmytv. Next year will be my first year coaching 7s (well 6s). We are trying to decide if we will compete 6 (new 5) or wait until they're ready for 7 (6) and just score out like most around here seem to do. I have often wondered why USAG doesn't just lower a few of...
