Ok, I have to admit I was one of the biggest naysayers here. However, all DD's meets this year have been later in the evening, and she got tired of the old tried and true bun and doesn't like a ponytail for competition. I found this on youtube and thought it turned out ok and I would have never...
I know we are probably in the minority, but my DD loves the protec reisport velcro. When she lost one at a meet and never found it, the protec ones were on backorder so she tried the Ginnasta ones, and also tried the reisport double buckle, I thought it would help her not to have to tighten...
I should also mention she can do a single tuck from just a tap swing with no problem. It's when she is connecting it to her giant that she has the issue with the single tuck. But the layout is still not happening even from a tap swing.
@ Gymsanity---No, I'm sure it will be a long time before we worry about double lo's...but her problem is that she's competing level 7 where doubles aren't allowed period. :) She used to have a pretty single tuck, but that has went by the wayside, since she first started trying to do a layout...
To have a kid that can do a double back off bars, and land it cleanly but cannot do lay out flyaway? I should also mention she has trouble with a single tuck flyaway. I've searched the threads, but couldn't find anything, so just wondering if this is common?
This was my DD. Bald as a cue ball until she was 3 and then it was white blonde, and baby fine. While I did not tape bows to her head, I used a trick from my days of working in the nursery at the hosptial....KY Jelly and ribbon bows work wonders ! LOL
Thank you all for sticking up for me!
@ COz, you might be right. Maybe I don't have enough interest or want to to be able to do this. But I do know DD's hair. It's long, thin, and baby fine. It's difficult to get any hairstyle to stay up neatly, let alone my amateurish attempts. I've even had...
And that's why I think there shouldn't be a mandated hair style. You will have parents with various degrees of hairstyling, some will look super and some will look like....well, mine would look prob similar to yours.
If you have some kid that it's a problem not having their hair up and...
Beautiful, but meets are stressful enough without having to worry about if I can get DD's hair up in a style that the coach wants. Plus when you have an 8:00 start time, it's hard enough to get them up and going without me bumbling around for hours trying to get her hair fixed. Would be great...
My dd also went straight to contacts at age 6. She has always worn the Focus dailies that you throw away everyday. She's 12 now, and I'm sure she could probably wear the extended wear like I do now, but she's never had on ounce of trouble with them so I don't see the reason to change. She...
Where are they selling tickets for the Nastia Liukin cup? I couldn't find a link to that. I'd like to make a weekend of it for her, so I'd like tickets to that too.
This competition will be near my DD's birthday, and will be close enough for us for me to drive. I'd love to surprise her with tickets. So I go to Ticketmaster, however when I look at the map, all the apparatus I see are the mens. I thought the men and women competed together here? Just...
Go on and pass Fabio around. I hope he cleans houses, too. I'd rather much have him do that than feed me, lol.
The first year my DD competed, it was the first year in a long time that our gym even had a competition team and everybody was pretty much on the same level. We even had t shirts made...
My DD has long hair, but fine. I got this donut type thing that is squishy but blonde colored, like her hair. You put her hair up in a ponytail and pull it through the hole, then pin sections of hair all around it to cover the donut. Take the ends of the pinned pieces and wrap around the bun and...
Thank you, she is! She competed level 4 for an entire season as a 10 year old, level 5 last year for most of the season and scored out of level 6 so she would have options this competition year. She has always been a very focused kid, and in one sense I'm glad she's older because she pushes...
Add me to the list of wish we had started sooner. It just wasn't available here where we live, and as it is I drive her an hour each way now which makes it difficult on the week I work (I work a week, off a week). It is the only gym within a 2 hour radius of me. Thank goodness for wonderful...
My daughter went to FlipFest for the first time completely by herself last summer, and I was really worried, too. (she is 12 years old for reference). They bunked her in a cabin with others who were traveling without a team, and it was a great experience for her. She made friends and has kept...
