Ok today I put a mat over the low beam because I can't ever get my hands on the beam for the backwalkover! Any tips? Is it okay to practice backwalkovers on the floor with my hands together?? My backwalkover on the floor is really straight I think my only problem on the beam is getting my hands on the beam! Pleasseee help :) are there any drills that can help?

going slow can help you put your hands on the beam, but really its just practice!!! hands together on the floor is just fine.

Yes, you should do a lot on a line on the floor with the hand placement you're going to be using on the beam. Also, you might want to stretch your shoulders a lot and try to get a spot on at least your 1st few on the low beam. HTH!

I usually go with "Reach up, Reach back, look for the beam"
Most girls arch their lower backs first. This doesn't give many of them the time or angle they need to get their shoulders open enough to put their hands on the beam.
Good luck

Get your coach to spot lots on the low beam to help you put your hands on the beam.
