I was browsing for some Leos online for dd and came across beam shoes/slippers. I know these were used many years ago but I haven't seen them used in recent years, at least not in the USA. Are there clubs that still use them? What benefit do they offer?

My daughter's coach wanted her to wear them after she kept hitting her toes and bleeding on the beam. We never did buy them as said daughter was adamantly opposed to them.

My friend used to wear these. My coach was completely against them and constantly tried to get her to stop. Your toes being separated help balance and helps save a skill when it's off. Plus they're kind of slippery!
