And for those of you talking about competing on floor without springs..when my coach did high school gymnastics he went to a gym that's floor was just on the basketball court with a 40 by 40 foot taped off square :)
 
Here HS is based on level 9 skills, typically. And you see ALL types of skills. People generally don't get 9s unless they were at least level 8 in JO, but it varies. Sadly, my gymnast is going to HS starting Monday--quitting club after her fifth year of foot/ankle injuries in a row. She decided her body just couldn't take it.
 
So sorry gymmomtoo. I know it will a big adjustment for you both. It great she has an option to show off her skills.
 
Back when I competed high school gymnastics, it was on a wrestling mat. Talk about non-spring floors! Wrestling mats are design to absorb impact, not bounce! I still managed to tumble on it and some girls I competed against did fulls.
