is there a difference between drop kip and cast away kip?

some girl on team said she didn't have a drop kip, but then went to do like a cast away, drop down and kip x5. I was like what? is there a difference? also is it possible to do like a straddle long hang kip? lol just wondering.. thanks!
 
Perhaps this was just the way i was taught but a drop kip is a kip in which you begin in front support with a deep hollow fall back keeping your legs on the bar and then repeat the kip upwards. Basiclly (since that may have been confusing) you do fall from a support and without a glide or removing your legs from the bar you come down as if the kip had been re-wound and before you would drop your legs, you change directions and proceed with the actual kip having done no glide.

What you described above was a kip cast kip, which is essentially the same as a glide kip.

Finally, no, there is no such thing as a "straddle" long hang kip because the straddle is used when to decrease the difficulting of hold your legs above the ground on the low bar. If the high bar is high enough there would be no need to straddle and would be a form deduction.
