:( My Dd has been training for 6 years and her last team member just left gymnastics....she is now on her own in her level and trains with 3 other girls much older and at higher levels. There are a group of girls her age in the gym who train a lower level, so she still sees some kids her age, but I worry about her getting lonely (19 hours a week) and missing out on socialising. DD loves one on one attention from her coach though, and is quite excited about that. I guess I'm just pre-empting any problems at the moment, anyone else have a DD on her own after many years of having a team?

Mine has a bunch of teammates, but I would probably worry about the same thing. At least she has other girls there--even if at different levels. How does she like doing meets on her own?

I don't know if you read my reply before the big meltdown- but my DD was in the same situation. It was difficult, but she met a lot of girls from other teams at the meets and they all cheered for her! She was so unhappy about the season on her own that she refused to move up the next season because she would have been alone again. It was not fulfilling to remain in the same level an additional year, and the season ended with a lot of tears. She is now at a gym where all of the optionals train together so there is a range of ages and she does not feel on her own anymore.
