Have any of you been to this meet?

We are going next month and were wondering about good/bad/what to expect.

What are your favorite things to do/places to eat in the area?

Also, it's a huge meet. How early do they tend to release the schedule?

NEver been to the meet, as I have a boy gymnast, but, you will want to watch the weather closely! Once you are there, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! The Broadmoor is gorgeous! Lots of great things to do: Olympic Training Center, Garden of the Gods, and cool little downtown areas.

I know lots of people are anxiously awaiting the schedule. That is always the hardest :)

It's a good meet. Upper levels on Friday and if they qualify to event finals those are Saturday night. Lower Optionals Saturday , compulsory Sunday. Go to the cave of the winds and take the candle light tour , it's longer than the regular tour but worth it. Garden of the gods is cool and free. And leave the kids at home and drive up to cripple creek for some authentic old timer casinos. See you there as we are returning again this year

This is what they have on the website so far:

FRIDAY, FEB. 2 SESSIONS -
LEVEL 10 (FULL) (EACH SESSION IS A NASTIA CUP QUALIFIER)
LEVEL 9 (FULL)
LEVEL 8 (FULL)
LEVEL 7 (FULL)

SATURDAY, FEB. 3 SESSIONS -
LEVEL 8 (FULL)
LEVEL 7 (FULL)
LEVEL 6 (FULL)

FINALS FOR LEVEL 9 AND 10 SESSION EVENT WINNERS
COACHES PARTY
ATHLETE PARTY

SUNDAY, FEB. 4 SESSIONS -
LEVEL 7 (FULL)
LEVEL 6 (FULL)

LEVEL 5 (FULL)
LEVEL 4 (FULL)
LEVEL 3 (FULL)

Since my dd is a level 7 it's hard to know which day she will compete.

We went to the meet several times. Stay at the Broadmoor if you can handle the price, just don't try to leave early as you will pay for whatever you booked. If you stay elsewhere, be prepared to pay for parking and allow some time to get into their parking garage.

The meet is well-run and, yes, it is big. But, not as big as Chicago Style, so enjoy. The Bee is a good on-site eatery, but get reservations or endure a very long wait. Its Feb in Colorado, so prepare for the weather (it can be warm or cold as the dickens). The hotel is on the south side of Colorado Springs, so if you plan to drive anywhere to the north, allow time to get thru congested traffic thru town. Castle Rock is about 40 minutes up I-25; very nice outlet center.

Good Luck and have fun!

Yeah not very helpful. I would say that if your team has 9’s and 10’s, they likely wouldn’t put your 7’s on Sunday. Most meet directors would fill the Friday and Saturday level 7 sessions with those teams first, putting teams with no upper optionals and/or also with compulsories in the Sunday session.

We went to Pike’s peak last year. Well run meet. We stayed at the broadmoor and it was great for access to the meet. We rented a car and went offsite for meals as broadmoor is a bit pricy for food.
We went to garden of the gods. It was amazing. Windy and a little chilly so bring a coat!
We drove to top of pikes peak. Holy cow it was freezing up there! :). But the views were totally worth it.

We are going to Pikes Peak Cup. It's a really nice, well run meet. For places nearby, I also recommend Garden of the Gods and if it's not too cold, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. We've driven to the top of Pikes Peak, but I think it's scary; unpaved road with no guardrails and massive dropoffs. Also potential for being closed if there's been recent snow.

Ugh. They made some changes to the schedule. Our level 9s are Friday at 3 and our 7s are at 5pm now instead of 6. Not sure how the coaches are going to do that since the groups are even in different gyms.

Maybe someone knows- the groups are assigned to different "gyms" but are they all actually in the same big room?

That would sure make it easier for our coaches if they do have to go back and forth.

Maybe the sessions go faster than other meets? I just am imagining our girls being stuck without a coach and that makes me nervous.

I believe both gyms are in the same room. Someone out there shout at me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure on this one.

In this case there are 3 "gyms" and I guess the coaches will have to figure it out. There is another team in both sessions with us who will be dealing with it, too, unless they just have some extra coaches hanging around. We will have two there for the meet.

I'm not positive, but I think I remember from years past that Aspen and Breckenridge were in the Broadmoor Hall. So Copper Mountain might be in the International Center. I'm relying on a possibly faulty memory and speculation.

How many coaches do you guys have? Can they just split up and go to the sessions? Maybe 1 will almost be done?
