UGH, that is just so sad. I know how it feels and it is like a smakc in the face for you both. Discourage any motino that bends her backwards and find ways to fill the four months. BIgger Bog was very restricted for months too, but she did adapt and began to learn the guitar, which she loves, and got involved in non sporting activity.

It is very, very hard, but she will adapt. Hopefully three months will do the job, and she will be back to her old self by Christmas.

Oh, I am so sorrry to hear this. Bog has some good advise for you. School will be starting soon and that will help with a bit of a routine. I hope she heals quick. Tell her job is to eat healthy, drink a lot of fluids and rest! It will make her heal faster.

I am so sorry about your daughter's back. I know my kiddo would have a hard time doing nothing for a week, months would be very difficult. Sure, they will get through it, but it will be hard. I agree that she needs some type of safe activity she can do for the next few months, music lessons, art class, etc. Back injuries are so scary. I keep wanting to get a follow up CT for my daughter's back even though she has been pain free ever since her injury. Very scary. Hugs.

Sydsmom-
So sorry to hear that! Poor kid, she must've been heartbroken. Hopefully, when school starts, she'll find distractions that will make the time go by quicker. Hugs to you both!

So sorry to hear the diagnosis. On the up side at least you have a diagnosis and know what has been causing the back pain. This is a time to look that things she has never tried---art, music, reading clubs. Once she gets back in school, I'm sure the time will pass more quickly.
Hugs to both of you!

So sorry for your DD. I know she must be so sad right now. With school starting I am sure she can find another outlet until she is cleared for gym again.

Wow, what a bummer - I can only imagine how sad she must be. Sending you both a virtual hug and healing fairies :)

so very sorry. nobody wanted this news. Bog has some great advice & can certainly relate to your situation. hope she finds some new activities to enjoy for a whole. puzzles, scrapbooking....

Oh no. I am so sorry to hear that. I'm hoping she finds some activity that she enjoys and can recover so she is pain free.

UPDATE:

Started PT yesterday, DD core is so weak from being out for 3 months that she has to strenghten them up before she goes back to the gym. They also fitted her with the bone stimulator device and showed us how to use it and put it back on. She will have it on 24/7 except for showering for 2 weeks then new bone scan. We are sitting at 45% fracture, but down from 65% 8 weeks ago...so progress is good!!! the PT thinks she will only need to wear this for the two weeks and maybe be pain free...only time will tell at this point. She has to ge deligent about doing her exercises and not injuring her self more. She is still out till Sept 19 when she goes back to the spine specialist.
Thank you everyone for you support, prayers, good thoughts, private messages and giving me a venue to vent!!
