Swimming Before Gymnastics Meet

I actually have been told that it's the chlorine in a pool that does things to a person's body and not so much the exercise itself. Our coach's daughter (L9 at the time) used to swim in school before practice and supposedly she had a hard time exerting her energy in the gym. But, I don't swim so I dunno. I do notice however that a dip in a fresh water pond is far more refreshing than doing the same in an ocean. Again, don't know what that means.
