I'm always looking for a good poem or quote about gymnastics, but I could never find a prayer. I wanted a prayer I could say before/during/after practices and meets, so I wrote my own. The Gymnast's Prayer
Dear Lord,
As I stand in a mist of chalk, with sweat and tears rolling down my face,
please don't let me forget that the painful hours of practice will all be worth it;just as Your's were.
Please remember me and where I am and what I must do.
Keep my chin high when the score is low.
Watch and protect me as I flip, soar and fly above the floor.
Push me when I stand frozen before the daunting runway.
Hold my hand as I conquer the beam.
And promise to catch me if my grip slips from the bar.
Lord allow me to walk away from the mats with a humble smile on my face,
no matter what just went down only seconds before.
Lord, I love this sport, but I will always love you more.
