Any other time I'd say go for it. Before a state meet I'd say to reschedule. I'm sure there are other times they'll let her sample. So why chance her injuring herself or being to sore to compete the next day.

They did say tomorrow was the "only day" but I think I will explain the situation and even if we have to pay for a trial, I suppose it would be better...thanks!

Side note... Sis is a former elite gymnast who is currently training CF and LOVING it. Seems gymnasts have a great advantage when it comes to CF.

1. She is a kid and her ability to recover is about 5x yours.

2. She's a rec gymnast and probably in better shape than you.

3. She's only training 3d/wk so another 2 would might be beneficial if the programming isn't stupid. She would probably benefit from Squatting, Pressing, and Pulling. I would they don't push anywhere near a slight form break

4. NOT BEFORE STATES!

Elite gymnasts do have a real edge coming into CF, Weightlifting as well. I think there about a dozen girls on the National level who are former optional/L10 gymnasts in the US. CF is about 30% Weightlifting, so go figure.

Elizabeth Akinwale, 36, 5'7" 160 just snatched 200# and did a HS walk of 342' today in the first event. She's also one of the top lifters in her weight class in the US and a former L10 gymnast. Her sister was a gymnast as well and is competing this year I think and is pretty strong (she did track and rugby in college instead of gymnastics).

Lol, and to think... we graduated from a rural school in "the largest ever graduating class" to that date - we had 105 students.
He went on to be an Olympic Coach. It was so cool to watch the Olympics on TV with my gymmies in 2010 and say "I know him (pausing the TV so they could get a good look)... He cut my frog in half and made me get a D on my biology final in high school... but he also taught me how to draw Garfield 4 years before that in 5th grade." :D

I'm gonna be a jerk here and say...

Possibly the CSCS MAY mean something here. Then again I've worked with CSCS that I've thought WTF are you doing, please don't kill your wife in the process. Complete Cluster**** teaching his wife and clients the OlympicLifts.

CF Judges course...means nothing.

HKC course. Somewhat legit but not a barbell or gymnastics.

CF Mobility course. Good start

Power Yoga. That's cute

Bobsledding stuff. Cool sport.

L1. Sure buddy, that's cute. Good start.

Structural Integration Bodywork Practitioner. Sounds promising.

No attendance in even CFGymnastics L1 by Tucker or attending seminars with Paoli, Harrell, or Sommer or GMB.

No Weightlifting attendance of clinics, seminars or the USAW L1 coaching cert or Sports Performance.

CF is Gymnastics and Weightlifting and learning the crappy American KB swing (thank god he knows Hardstyle). Bobsledding means jackall to CF.

i did european cup bobsledding two years ago and still coach some sledders in the weightroom and on track - bob sledding is sprinting at its purest form: sprint and push this thing as fast as you can. the training is mainly the same as a 60m indoor track training only would be, but the athletes are bigger and heavier since the distances are shorter and you have to push the bob and you have to be heavy to make the weight cut (the bobs have a weight limit and if the athletes in it are not heavy enough you have to use steel plates to make up for the missing weight and pushing these steel plates with the bob makes your start times much worse, so heavier athletes are a must). in principle they are like throwers in track (think shot put, discus...), but sprinting ones. in training they do mainly some sprint work (technique work, speed work, explosive work) and strength stuff and olmypic lifting in the weight room. also some jumping. so doing this is imo a pretty good way to become a great crossfit coach - at least you know a lot about athletic trainig to start working with.

Thank you!

Here is my opinion of Crossfit - It sucks.

Why does it suck? Because it is not individualized and there is not really a progression to the workouts. It's just random sh** thrown together into a "Workout of the Day." Can you lose some weight and body fat and stuff? Well, sure. But, if you throw random stuff together and eat better, the physical activity and nutrient/calorie change will definitely cause some pounds to come off and you'll look better naked.

Form is definitely the big issue. But, even if you keep good form, the workouts are too random.

So, are you really healthier? Do you MOVE better? Do you have compensatory issues such that Crossfit-style workouts are only feeding more into the dysfunction? Being healthy is not all defined just by aesthetics.

I could go on and on, but I'll stop there.

I'm glad in got me way more into S&C which is the same thing it did for Justin Howell I think. Through it, I got back to Weightlifting though it was about 6 years before I really switched to WL and dug in. I dug into energy systems, various types of programming, blah blah blah.

But instead of believing CF is the end all, be all I think an individualized programming focusing on fixing weaknesses in an athlete and training in their necessities is more proper than curing their Fitness ADD. I've never drank the KoolAid mainly because I'm skeptical kind of person. And I wasn't too fond of CFHQ for a few years which I no longer really care about.

There is a difference between using it for athletes and for adults who merely want to become stronger, leaner, and in better shape. Is it better than a Body part bodybuilding split with time on the treadmill? Probably. It is something you can do on your own in your garage that is a bit different than Insanity or P90x.

The funny thing is a lot of CF programming at CF gyms/boxes these days is just common sense S&C under the veil of CF to use the name and build a community and livelihood.

There's a cross fit gym not far from DD's gym- I had a quick look as I thought it might be more constructive than sitting on my @rse playing with my phone during practice :))

I didn't get any further than the price . It'd be much cheaper to join team and condition with the 7 year olds in the gym...

(1) CrossFit will revitalize men's gym in this country because CF-doing dads are going to tolerate their sons doing gym instead of football. Or at least, I think it's a big help in my husband being on board his son doing gym and not baseball, basketball and football.

(2) CF Kids is not really for gymnasts. When my DH occasionally takes his ten year old, 6-hours/week L3 daughter to adult CF just to drop in, DD routinely kicks the hardcore adult's butts.
