Ok i have watched some tumbling on youtube and the strip that they tumble on looks very bouncy, is it more bouncy that a regular gymnastics floor or the same?
It is more bouncy, but not as bouncy as a trampoline but more so that a regular floor. It is called a rod floor and has a system of rods that create spring.
Our T&Ters have a rod floor and a ski floor which uses skis underneath the foam to provide the spring. Both offer more spring than the artistic floor, so are better for the rebounding passes you see in T&T. My body is shot from my years in artistic gym, so I find the ski floor to be much more forgiving for the minimal tumbling I do these days. However, those whose bodies are still intact generally prefer the rod floor as, with the correct technique, you can get quite a bit of spring out of it.
