Does anyone know if Aspire can have bonuses?

No bonus allowed in Aspire. Last year they used to be allowed to do it for show and no marks, but that changed this year.

No, no full starts for DD on any events. She has bonus on beam and floor (not full) and just the minimum on bars.

I guess I should add, she too has 3 aerials/saltos on the beam, so 1.5 bonus. 1.0 bonus on Floor, and for this meet none on bars, but I expect that to change by the new year.

The other little girl from our gym has full bonus on floor and beam. I expect she'll likely upgrade her bars at the same time as DD.

Canadian Gym Mom - so sorry to hear your gymnie is hurt... My dd was CPN Elite last year and loved it. I just wish she could have done a couple of years of it. Its a tough jump to Novice.

Not sure of her age but maybe she can try for Team Ontario next year. My dd went to National Stream Cup and Easterns and had a blast. She loved staying and hanging out with her team. That team she competed with have now become her friends. Lovely experience.

I am looking at my daughters pictures - and there are six girls in the photo. There were 4 elite and 2 aspire. I also checked the score sheets and there were only 6 that competed. I don't believe there was a 7th person that went. Canadian_gym_mom
There was a gymnast that went that made Team Ontario but chose to go as her club not Team Ontario but that wouldn't count.

For Eastern's there was 4 of them.

Yes Easterns was top 4 aspire and top 4 elite, but last year for nsc it was only top 6 total with elite going first (which I don't think is cool but whatever, lol).

Thanks guys! I just saw the gymnastics ontario message to all the clubs and it's a team of 6 and they can't scratch any events. They take from Elite 1st & the alternates do not travel with the team. That's the confirmed scoop

Hello ladies. Just had a look at the BTS app and there 3 elites and 10 aspire registered. Not sure if it's going to stay that way. I see some last year aspires on list and wondering are there any mobility rules ?

There are no mobility rules. You can be an Aspire athlete for 3 years if you want, from age 8-10. It is entirely based on skill. The only requirement I believe is that you cannot complete Elite as an 8 year old.

The schedule from Base Borden indicated 8 elites and 14 aspires. Our gym has two Elites and two Aspires confirmed to attend. You indicated previously that your gym would have "at least" 2 Elites and a bunch of Aspires. Is this still the case?

I just looked at that list of girls in the Aspire group. A couple of them I am aware were planning to compete Elite, one of which I was since told is injured and not competing this round. Not sure now - 22 athletes down to 13 from the schedule seems very odd.

No elites from our club . Yes will be interesting to see how many will end up there. Oh well. We will see.

What a bummer for dd. she would have had a free ride to NSC.

My dd was elite last year and I don't believe any of them are left. They were all 10 last year.

What do you mean free ride to NSC?

I mean if there are less than 6 Elites, everyone makes it. And no, she won't compete Aspire. Her first meet will probably be Gymnix. There is one elite left, the one who didn't make Easterns last year.

I generally agree it Isn't likely right. I suspect it will be a lot closer to the schedule.

I forgot about that gymnast. She didn't compete for National Stream. Is she in elite this year?

We are going to gymnix as well this year. My dd was there before when she was in L7. She hated it and said she never wanted to go back She was in the "other" gym and they had to do their warm up in the basement and then come up and compete. They never got to touch the equipment - just straight to compete. I remember the vault was like you were vaulting on cement.
She has had to suck it up as we are going back - but this time she gets to compete in the big gym (thats what she calls it) and she will get to warm up on the actual equipment she competes on which makes her so much happier.

If your dd goes elite then she will compete in the big gym as well. Should be fun.
