Please give me some pointers otherwise I'm going to eat the whole time...lol......but we will heading out of Vegas to explore too.
Ok let's see.... New York New York has the roller coaster, and Dylan's Candy Bar, across the street at MGM Grand is M&m world. Not sure if mgm still has the lions, but hat was always my favorite thing to go see, and I got to hold a baby lion once :)

Circus circus has the game/arcade place, and a theme park (inside)
Stratosphere has rides at the top (depends on what time of year you go though, although it's the desert, it can still be cold.)

The Venetian has a mall inside and it's amazing, as does Ceasars...and those have more than just high end designer stores, they have more "touristy" type shops (and the insides of the malls are awesome looking, lots of people rave about the one in the Venetian but I feel like the one at Ceasars is a well kept secret treasure :))

Excalibur has a show that's much like medieval times... Blue man group is at Monte Carlo and its kid friendly, (and adult friendly too, it's awesome!) The Coca Cola store is on the strip somewhere as well, and there's also a wax museum (can't remember where, I think it's on the Venetian end)

Thanks not that! I think we will definitely try to catch Cirque O or something......we will probably try to do the Hoover damn, and hike maybe....

We did Christmas on the Chesapeake once, seemed well run and the inner harbor is lovely especially with all the lights! We are going to the Sun Devil classic this year and have no idea what to expect. Baltimore was driving distance for us, but definitely not AZ!

The Peppermint Twist leos are very cute, not always high quality but often have good designs.
Spirit of the Flame leos are really terrible.

You can tell my priorities.

My kids love the peppermint twist ,the Leo is usually a fave one.

We are going to the chows challenge this year , how is that one ?
This will be our first travel meet

I'm wondering the same - we are going to Vegas this year! What is so bad?
Chicago Style last year and the girls had a blast! We loved that meet! The gymnast "parties" were a big hit.
Sand Dollar in Orlando is a good meet, we are going again this year, but very $$$ to get in.
Gasparilla in Tampa is a cool venue (inside a baseball park), but awards took forever.

We are doing Sand Dollar this year! Super excited! But yes, I've already looked into the entry fees and YIKES!!

We are too ascarter! It's also expensive!
Go to Disney springs after for a bite and maybe an ice cream.
If you stay at a Disney hotel, transportation is included and VERY convenient!

Yes, we are staying at Disney...it's a long trip for us (10-12 hrs in car so it will probably be a flight for us). Excited, but not looking forward to the bill!!

The equipment at Chow's is usually very nice. Always enjoyed this meet even though it's earlier in the season than some others - so more stressful, routines are less polished.

We've been to Lady Luck in Vegas and thought the host hotel wasn't nice at all. If you have an 8 am session it is so loud that it's practically impossible to get your kid asleep. We liked the CSI thing at MGM but the meet was so expensive as a spectator. A big plus was all of the college coaches there.

Brestyans this year might be better - different location and I am hopeful.

Thanks! I was told to try and find a hotel with no casino. It's better for the kids and less smoke and strange people walking around......
I might even look on vrbo since everyone wants to go to this meet.....

we always stay at Orange Lake Resort. Off property but easy to get in and out from. Love that place!

OL is where we stay for all of our family vacations! Love it there. Admission for Sand Dollar is pricey. Also, depending on what other levels you may want to watch, sometimes not possible. We had teammates competing in the other building.

I used my timeshare and we stayed at the Wydham Grand Desert - really nice and away from the strip. Downside though, had to take shuttle to get to the monorail to meet site. Also, food was very expensive and super crowded everywhere. We could barely walk down the streets because they are too crowded, and loads of drunk skanky men leering at our girls. There are so many other more 'family friendly' locations. Elite qualifier was held in this TINY room. We purchased tickets and got to the door to be told we could not enter. Our girls were freaking out because they were required by HC to attend to watch teammate, so we finally convinced the guy at door to let them in to sit on floor (we also had to purchase tickets for gymnasts who competed other sessions). Us parents ended up waiting at the bar (not necessarily a bad thing, LOL).

Thanks for the VRBO heads up.

anybody have opinions about the belaggio, vdara, aria complex?
Would you suggest a rental car, or taxi? We were thinking of driving out of Vegas anyway......have to check on parking rates.

Parking was generally free so having a rental car was easy. I'd skip any hotel with a casino. Children under 18 can't even stop in a casino but have to walk a path through them.

Hoover Dam was my daughter's favorite part of the trip, even beat out Cirque!

We only rented a car on the last day to go to Hoover Dam, the rest of the time we just walked, shuttled, tram (monorail thing) and taxied around. Agree that Hoover Dam was a great trip, we also saw Cirque's "O" - very cool show. Our best meal was at TAO!
