Parents Is DD the only one still waiting to learn what level she will compete this fall?

No idea yet, but have been told the group has all L6 stuff so the L6/L7 decision hangs on the giant-layout connection for Pea. The plus side of a lower pressure gym is that they give the girls every opportunity to move up!

Still waiting...know she has to test out of 5. Probably will compete mostly 6 this year, but could be 5, 6, or 7!

We got the word tonight... YG will be competing Xcel Gold this season!!! For most of the girls, the final decision will be made in the next couple weeks.

At Y Nationals this year, the Ohio Reps got together and decided to get rid of Mandate Scores (if you earned a certain score twice in a season, you HAD to move up... with a 1st year exemption in the case of a "fluke"... Ohio was the only state with these Mandate scores. Ohio had 50% of the gymnasts, but only win 10% of the medals due to HAVING to move girls up with fairly low scores.) They made the decision (a very good one considering girls at L6 were throwing fulls on floor and even our 7s - those who had previously mandated- don't even do fulls). One of our L7s would have mandated to L8, but doesn't have a cast handstand or giants yet... did well at L7, but not ready for L8. She is now repeating. All of our L6 and L7 will repeat. To move up the levels now, our L3 and L4 HAVE to have ALL the skills for the next level BEFORE moving up... but we will also do MORE uptraining during the season, especially for repeaters!

DD won't find out until early in September (or maybe late August). She has floor music and is working on level 7 skills-gym has skipped 6 in the past, but only time will tell! Coaches are pretty clear that they won't make decisions until the team meeting in September-it takes a lot of the stress out of waiting away since we know not to expect any info until then!

DD will be one of two levels, and it will be decided when registrations are finalized/no changes allowed for the first meet, which for her is Dec 5-7. So we have until mid November for it to be determined.

But theoretically, either of her levels get a buy direct to provincials (like your states) so she could train until March and then decide, but she'd loose out on practice meets for the year.

We will find out in October if ODD will be xcel silver or gold, for competition starting in January, and we will find out if YDD will be TNT level 4 or 5 in December, for competition starting in December. For ODD, all the xcel girls practice together- there are only about 7 of them total (silver and up) I think, so it doesn't effect much one way or the other. For YDD we worked out a schedule with the gym that is separate from team, trying to get her level 5 ready.

DD is training l4 but we won't find out for sure until October. DD is still missing her kip though so I am not sure if they will risk her not having it for the season if she doesn't have it by Oct or if they will have her compete l3 again. I am really hoping they will move her up as she would be dreadfully bored doing another l3 season but we will see.

Either lvl 4 or lvl 6....skills are coming along. She was having trouble with her flyaway 2 weeks ago and is now doing them using the belt. She is working her BHS on medium beam. The season does not start until December, so she has a while.

Should find out fairly soon as the optionals have a different Leo and that will need to be ordered soon.

Still waiting to find out... their first meet isn't until December (I think) but it would be nice for them to start working on routines. They are still heavy on stretching, conditioning, and working on isolated skills... :/

L8. DD was last gymnast to find out. Everyone else knows.

For those of you who don't know.....

How does your fall schedule work? We find out before school starts back because we need to know what team our daughters practice with because of scheduling. So if your kid is an L4, you need to know that so you can bring her in to practice on the right nights.

If you don't find out until December, how is your practice schedule handled?

Excellent cbifoja! I hope she has a great season!

In our gym it doesn't really matter at the optional level since they all practice at the same time. The only thing that changes is from L8 on up you add Wednesdays.

Compulsories are almost the same. L3-4 train at the same time and L5 and 6 usually train at the same time as the L7s but only have to come 3 days a week.

My dd will only do 4 if she doesn't get the flyaway....lvl 4 is a repeat so the routines are not new and would oly need a bit of polish.

We train for the level they tell us, but it isn't decided until right before the meets, what level they are actually competing.

Good question. :) Our fall schedule starts August 26. The HC is supposed to do the final levels evaluation on Friday, August 22nd. So.... we will find out our fall schedule 3 days before it actually starts... Nice.

Ugh! Our parents would go ballistic in this situation. We have a LOT of competitive dancers on our teams and they start turning up the heat in late July/early August because of dance registration.

Plus with school starting (today, my baby started the 5th grade!), we switch back to nights the beginning of August and have to know which night to attend.

I'm sure DD will be a level 5 this year, but we won't know for certain till October or so. It's a painful wait.
