the way I've read it, RO is considered a Sideward element....not forward

" Balance Beam - Section IV. A. c. -- The Round-off is considered a sideward element."

so on beam front/ side and back acro elements required - round off will count as a front/ side not a back acro. Tick tock also counts as a front/ side acro. Back acro pretty much restricted to back walkover, back handspring, back tuck/pike/layout, and gainer back type skills.

Interesting - so it can be a forward or sideways element? I actually wondered if it might be considered a backward element because it lands backwards which is easier than landing forwards. For example, an arabian summi is considered a forwards element because it lands forwards. But a round-off does seem to be a forwards/sideways element.

Requirement is for backward skill and a front OR side skill. Skills are not classified as front/side...as in the skill itself can be considered a front or a side skill, just the you have to do a front or a side skill. So when they write it out they tend to say must do a back and a front/side skill.

Tic-tocs can be considered either a forward or backward element, to the advantage of the gymnast --( Balance Beam-- Section IV. Specific Compositional Decductions (for levels 8,9 &10) --A. 1.f.
